Can't believe I finally did it...

10 minutes ago I finally mauled down Volkyn Soriak, final boss from vMA, with my stamnb. My first clear! My hands are still shaking, unbelievable.

Earlier today I was still in round 4, where I had been stuck for a long time, just like I had been stuck in round 2(still my most hated round). After switching gear to briarheart, and with the help and tips of Deltia and some awsome people from my guild I was able to work my way through vMA today. Don't know how I would have ever gotten past the crematorial guards had I not knowed that you could run around them in circles to avoid the fire. I am so thrilled right now.

Sadly I got a decisive frost staff, but who cares lol. Later, the realization that I will probably never get the bow will surely kick in, and I will cry..

Gratz on the first clear and don't worry about the Bow it is a fairly common drop, much like Resto staves.

Woot! More dedication then I ever had. I went in, got killed by the first 3 mobs, and said ok I'll try again later. I lie to myself like that sometimes. Makes me feel better about myself.

Trust me, when I repeatesly failed on round 2, I thought I was never going to do it. The incoming damage was just so great, I and I sucked at recognizing the spinning blade's pattern. I don't know what it was today, but it was a 'zen' like calmness .. (haha ok I lied, I raged as hard as you wouldn't believe on last boss). But step by step is the way. Slow and steady. But asking tips from people really helps, as in which sigils to take when, and where to move at certain moments. Those details are key.

completed my first run last week. had always avoided vMA due to the stories of BS rng and overall difficulty.

died a whole lot first time thru on stages 5-9 (vma bow, defending but usable)

died 30ish times second time thru in about 2 hours including smoke breaks (vma battleaxe, decisive i think)

had no death going til round 7 then died 17 times (had a few lagouts and dc's) rounds 7-9 in a little less than 2 hours with breaks (vma lightning staff, nirhoned)

moral of the story, it gets easier and you "might" get the bow next time

At least you have Stormproof now, good work, a title that to this day hangs over me like a schoolyard bully, taunting me.

But then again it's been so long since Wrothgar first released. Remember back when Stormproof was actually a really big deal and all the "big time" Guilds required you to have it for Trials and such? Time is a cruel mistress to everything.

Yeah! Slay it! The first vMA clear is always a great achievement. I remember heart racing, shakily holding my controller after my first completion. It's rare a game gives you that feeling.

Now you just have to grind for the weapon you want. Your second clear will be much easier and with transmutation coming you don't need to trait grind at least. In the words of my favorite poorly decorated cake "Congration, you done it!"

Yea the nerf sucks, but now I can just put a weapon dmg enchant on it. I suppose that will do just fine. I don't know when I will dare to do it again though. Round 2 gave me nightmares...
