Question about materials

Hello, again, sry for noob question.
I start first character in the game, don't have eso+ membership. I have one problem. I can't understand what materials I should pick up while lvlling considering that my bag has quite small limit?.
Or even what I SHOULDN'T pick up? Can you give me a couple of things about it.
My character is PVE. Sorcer, Hihg Elf, AD.
I do not really know besides will I need craft when I will high lvl, just because still didn't puzzle out how all in game works.

✭✭✭✭✭Create a couple alts. Bank your matts on the alts.
1. All alchemy matts are for any level except the water and the water is needed for when you level up alchemy.
2. You may level up another character and you may have some research done to craft set bonus gear for that alt. Helps to already have the matts.
It's what many of us did before getting the crafting bag as a sub.1
