ESO Client + Steam Client

My wife has 2 accounts, one through the normal client and another account through Steam. Is it possible to only have one copy of ESO installed, and if so how do you do that?

If she tries to login to the normal client with her steam info it says you have to use the steam client.

It is possible under certain circumstances to link an ESO and Steam account. If your version of The Elder Scrolls Online was not purchased through Steam, you will not be able to link your Steam account to your existing ESO account without purchasing a new copy of the game on the Steam platform first.

If you had previously purchased The Elder Scrolls Online on Steam and want to link your Steam account to your ESO account, you can do so by launching the game from Steam. Further details on linking ESO and Steam accounts can be found below. Note: only one ESO account can be linked to a Steam account.

Can I link my existing Elder Scrolls Online account to my Steam account?

yes I have a steam copy I'd like to link to the regular (website) client instead of using the steam client so I can delete that Steam copy of the game and keep the regular (website) copy.

Next time you run the game, pin the ESO client to your taskbar. Then open the game using the taskbar icon, and it won't go through the Steam login.

Edit: I may have misread your original post. If you want to completely get rid of the Steam login, I'm not sure you can do that. But I use the regular launcher (which is connected to my Steam account) to log into my account purchased through Steam, and I use the taskbar icon to log into my second account which was purchased directly from the site.

As far as I know there's still only one version of the game installed on my computer, since I didn't download and install it a second time when I bought the non-Steam account.

mine downloaded a second time. I had to wait for the whole thing. my maiin account is non steam, second acoutn is steam, and there's two copies taking up space.

I would uninstall/delete the non-Steam one and use the method I described to be able to log in both ways.

    Hey Everyone!

I have an issue Launching through steam (where I purchased ESO), when I launch the game I get ''This Application has Unexpectedly Quit'' ''Invocation of this Jaca Application has caused an Invocation TargetException. This application will now exit. (LAX).

I've updated Java, so I don't know what to do. Anyone help please? :)

I never really got a response to my follow up answer or more support though I left a lot of time, and the link provided doesn't make much sense. I have deleted the game files provided by my steam purchase (GamerAeryn2) and am now unable to log into the game via the regular website purchase launcher (though GamerAeryn works) as it says the game is not on my computer. It says to log in to my Steam Account purchase (GamerAeryn2) I must redownload the game (another 70GB - though there's already a functioning copy on this computer) to log in.

Is there literally no way around having two copies of the game installed on my computer?

Okay, so this is the answer, in case others need to know this and don't want to go through the days and days of issues I had AND writing a support ticket on top of it all.

"The articles in the link provided (by BillE further up the thread) are for a steam account that has never been tied to an ESO account, seeing as you already have your steam account tied to one of your ESO accounts these steps will not work and are not applicable in this case.

Once a steam account is linked to an ESO account it will automatically sign you in to the linked account when launching from steam."

THUS: There is literally no way to avoid having two copies (160GB) of Elder Scrolls Online installed on your computer if one is purchased through Steam and the other is purchased through ESO website. IF, however, you've purchased both through the same platform (two steam, or two website) then you're fine and can function with only ONE download. I feel there should be a warning about this somewhere, but there's not, so I'm going to just post this here.
