Okay this sounds great I have a few questions, first are you able to tank/survive easy when you play bc I want to survive yet have great damage yanno, next are you running heavy bc I was kid of hoping to run heavy, and lastly does your whip and such do good damage bc I see builds that have great damage and I want that but I just can't decide on setsThulsaDoomDC wrote: »Ive been playing mag dk exclusively for 2+ years now. Currently im playing a tank mDK but when I'm DPS i like to run Impreg all divines with sun and grothdar. Keep your dots up and the pressure is ridiculous. Also will add that max magicka with recovery to me is more important than 4000 spell damage. I have 41k magicka with 1800 recovery and its amazing.

Most builds are going to run a DPS set, a sustain set, and a monster set. If you want to be a tanky DK, I am going to suggest double sword and board, or Sword and board/Destro.
Good DPS sets for a DK: Silks of the sun, Burning Spellweave, Rattlecage, Spinners, Kags/julianos/shacklebreaker (crafted), and there are more.
Do you want nice flat damage and dont like buffing yourself? Rattlecage is great and saves you a skill spot. Do you want to manage a proc for more burst, BSW might be right. Do you want your damage from penetration? maybe spinners is best. Do you want somehting that is easy to craft? Kags, Julianos, or shacklebreaker are all nice. Shacklebreaker is very strong, its kind of a mix between damage and sustain.
Good Sustain sets. Seducer, Black Rose, Desert Rose, Lich, Shacklebreaker, Alteration mastery.
Again, how do you want to manage your sustain? A proc based set like lich is very strong, but it makes planning your gear a little tricky. Seducer is great, especially considering it is craftable which makes weapons a none issue. Both of the roses are strong (not as much as they used to be), but they are a little more situational.
Monster sets: There are many to chose from. Want some burst? Skoria. Want to apply steady pressure? Grothdar. Want Ulti gain and resources? Bloodspawn. Want to stack mitigation? Pirate skeleton.
I would look to see what sets you can most easily combine from these lists and then simply start playing. Figure out where your weaknesses are and adjust accordingly. I would error non the side of being a little tanky at the start. Then you can look to add more damage.
My DK usually sits in Seducer, Bloodspawn, and Rattlecage. My damage is definitley not capped, but I can sustain for days. For dueling/small man, I will often switch to Seducer BSW and Skoria, where I want a little more burst to finish people off. If I am playing in a larger group, then I will often go 5 light and stack even more damage while using at least one destro staff.

Need that light for extra damage. Magicka DKS already do not have an execute or burst like some classes. I run light shackle breaker. I have a heavy set of it as well.

I think seducer is really hard to beat for pure sustain, and it's is craftable, so it you can make weapons and any armor weight you need. The biggest problem with something like lich, is that you need weapons (which are a nightmare to grind) to make it work well. You typically only want the buff on your back bar so you can control the proc, which complicates things.
I have a light armor set of shacklebreaker for my sorc, and a set of heavy seducer for my DK. They both work really well. What I would do is make a set of seducer (Both S/B and three armor pieces, you definitely want heavy chest and legs), and then pair it with one of the three: BSW, Silks of the Sun, Rattlecage.
The first two are light sets so it requires a heavy monster set. Rattlcage is heavy, so you can run a light monster set if needed, or adjust your crafted pieces. Again, these all have their pros and cons. I think rattlecage is the easiest to play because you dont need to run a skill to give you major sorcery, but this will be the lowest damage. Silks of the sun is a little more damage, but you will need to run a skill (or potion) for major sorcery. BSW is perhaps the best, but the damage is proc based. Therefore you need to time both your proc and run your skill for major sorcery.
Silks is nice because you can buy it. Both Rattlecage and BSW require a grind. As you will want the jewelry (preferably in purple) it means a vet grind. Sidebar: Rattlecage is a heavy set so the jewelry is healthy. There are unique jewerly pieces that drop from the first couple of bosses in magic, which is better both for the trait and the grind.

Yeah it works in heavy, kill speed is dependent on who you are up against though as usual, but yes you can kill people with a heavy version of that build. I suggest dual wielding on the attack bar if you can also.

Sustained can be easily done if you manage your resources and fairly tanking, but you can get more takininess by running 1 Chudan/1 Pirate instead of what I am running. Due note its not a 1H/S builds its a destro build similar how a Mag Sorc will play.
