Clarification regarding Snare-Stacking and Ulti-Regen

Ok, so I understand that light and heavy attacks cause Ulti-regen, that activation synergies causes it and that there are several passives and active abilities that can cause it + major and minor heroism, however what I don't understand is what else causes it and how to best implement that. For example: does taking damage cause a bit of ulti-regen? what about healing? I've definitely healed someone and earned a couple of ult, but I've also healed someone and not got any ult, how does that work? etc..

The other thing I'm interested in is how Snares interact with each other. If I put 2 40% snares on someone are they 80% snared? What if I put a 40% snare and a 50% snare, does the 50% override the 40% one? Or is it only the first snare that sticks, and the second placed wont even apply? I feel like there's no real information out there regarding snares and I would really appreciate some clarification from someone who's either tested it personally or has a link to information from ZoS themselves.

Thanks heaps in advance :)

When you damage something with a light or heavy attack, you get an invisible buff that gives you ultimate over time. If, as a healer, you heal someone who has this invisible buff, you will also get this buff. But if they are not generating ultimate, you will also not get any either.

Taking damage does not cause ultimate regen.

Thanks, this makes perfect sense. :)

To clarify more to what s77 said, When you light attack or heavy attack someone and they dont dodge it you get a buff that gives you 3 Ult per second for 9 seconds. This buff also applies to you if you block an attack or heal someone who already has that buff.

With Snares however, they are treating similar to the Major/Minor Buff mechanic. So you can stack a 40% snare and a 50% snare to make a 90% snare for example. However, if you stack a 40% with another 40% snare you only get a 40% snare.

Snare is capped at 90%, however you can go over that with spamming gap closers so they move at around a 1% movement speed.
