Stamblades

Warning, this is a "dear diary" post.

Anyways, I must say for my first stamina toon, playing this Stamblade is probably the most fun I've had in a while. There's really no class that can come close to the uniqueness of them.

Might be my new main...and the final nail in the coffin for me playing magicka toons.

You should try a stamsorc, that's a fun and unique build.

I used to think that -- I started with Stamblade on XBox and had a blast, until lag and generally squirrely behavior of the game on XBox convinced me to switch to PC and start all over again. The same build was great on PC... until the nerfs kicked in. Now I'm still trying to figure out the best way to re-balance my build. It works great until a boss hands my backside to me with an AOE spell. I spend way too much time dodging and running around to avoid the AOE attacks just so I can get in closer and deal damage. And I usually play solo PvE, so I really need to be able to escape the AOE attacks. :s

Lately I've had better luck building up a Magblade alt. Or at least until that build line gets nerfed... and by then maybe my Stamblade will work better. Just keep switching...

    You are not alone.

Look at my signature where my chars are listed. I play my magDK in raids, but just guess what's the most played char in general ?

    Dear Diary,

Please let Zenimax not recognize that my Stamblade is still fun to play even after sustain nerf. Please keep it a dark secret to Zenimax that not just the dps is still awesome, but the playstyle too, because it's still fast paced and action heavy and no boring heavy attack mess as with most of my magicka chars.

Please - oh virtual god of all MMO universes - protect my Redguard Stamblade from the cold and freezing eye of zenimax, so that the nerf hammer will not hit her and her Assassin's Will will still rupture legions of trash mobs and bosses and I will still hear the satisfying sound of Killer's Blade.

This afternoon I logged into my Stamblade and joined some guildies for Undaunted pledges. We destroyed everything with ease yet again, I kept up my brawler shields since we weren't using a real healer. I was thinking of how easy it was starting to feel, and how many times I had beaten this dungeon, was it ten? I've had the max Undaunted rank on my Stamblade for at least a year and a half, it was time for a change.

I logged on to my Magsorc to test him out for the first time in two years. I took him into the vet pledge and very quickly started to remember how to weave and change bars. The requirements of using heavies was annoying, but manageable. Gotta say, that 18,000 health shield kept me going as I had to rez others, we were all a bit new to these dungeons on these characters. The AOE DPS and survivability was very much on par with my old 2H Stamblade build, I was able to rush ahead and solo the groups of harpies while my comrades lurked behind answering their phone and picking at crates along the way.

Actually one of my least played characters, still learning vMA on him, but I love the burst. Dies quite easily compared to my other characters and that's the part where I need to work to put him on the leaderboards too.

I started the game as a Magicka Nightblade, with the intention of working out a sap tank build for PvP. There were moments when that worked outrageously, but overall it wasn't impressive outside of limited situations. I eventually went to a more viable magicka build, and being Imperial wasn't too bad since stamina and health is always good in PvP. That worked since ESO really became a game of robes and staves for some months... until they decided to change it all up and make stamina popular.

I swapped over to stamina and hated it, but the guild needed people running steel tornado so I stayed with it. Eventually I got used to it, and we got vigor and rally which was outstanding and finally made stamblades viable when they were outside of the steel tornado swarm.

Now I have an Imperial and Khajiit Nightblade that are both stamina and I love them, they play very differently than other classes, the single target burst DPS is outstanding, they are easy mode at travel and escape. Nothing feels the same... so I completely agree. But this only came after lots of pain... they were downright broken in the beginning.

That said, I have a Templar now that I prefer because the Nightblade was a departure from my preferred playstyle. I intended to play magicka and should have gone with Templar from the beginning... I tried something different. It was a good experience and the Nightblade is still fun, but I prefer Templar in all aspects.
