But i suspect it is because I am basically the target audience for the thing, a magic the gathering player.

I don't think the game is that bad, just seems waaaaay toooo close to Hearthstone. Whille Gwent is a very different game. I haven't heard of Faera... the other one I have heard of is shadowverse which is all too anime for my liking.

I found Gwent was actually pretty entertaining in The Witcher 3. But, I can't imagine wanting to play it as a standalone. It's a neat game, but by design very pay-to-win. Not in the conventional, "oh, there's microtransactions it must be P2W." The game's only resource mechanic was the cards themselves, which meant more powerful ones were, flat out, more useful as pieces than cheaper ones.

On top of that, the basic faction powers were horrifically imbalanced. Monster decks had the ability to pull additional cards from your deck (remember, card advantage is the only currency), and Northern Realms decks would draw a card for winning a round. Which was arguably, more powerful, because you could build up more synergies that way.

Having run through the tutorial campaign of ESL... it's, "neat." I don't know if I'll be returning... anytime soon. I'm not sure about how close it gets to Hearthstone, but the lanes mechanic is kinda interesting. Though it ends up in the range of, "we tweaked a thing to make the game different from our competitor," not because they had an interesting idea. I find myself weirdly missing stuff like the old Star of the Guardians CCG's support mechanic, or thinking that ESL would have been better suited to a location control style game.

ESL is super fun. It literally made me semi-quit ESO so far. If anyone's got any codes they don't need, feel free to drop me a message.

Yeah, sorry about that. I was under the impression it worked, but I made a support-ticket today as well. Havent gotten the 5 packs either.

Well, I didn't get a mailer with a code, though I am an ESO+ subscriber, but after awhile I have given up figuring out how to actually tell the support team that. That is beyond impossible to work that site.

This answer suggests the correct category etc. but won't tell you that the system forces you to attach an image. Just appended a white square which is probably enough (or I should have used a puppy image I guess).
