Feedback - Housing desires!

I am a relatively new player still to ESO, less than a year young but what attracted me to play on a more regular basis was the housing aspect. I've always been attracted to in-game housing in MMOs. That being said, homestead has a great start. But it is still just a start. I know that we can expect a great deal more over time but I've created this discussion for fellow enthusiasts to collaborate on what we want to see for housing. Hopefully sooner, rather than later but all in time.

On my "List" includes the follow in order of importance to me:

-Water effects (whether it be more pre-existing structures like fountains or basins/bathtubs that contain water by default, or something like the ability to add a water effect to something (i.e. I built a custom bath but have nothing to simulate water inside of it, or I want to create a small pond, lake or waterfall in a house that has none of those things pre-existing) .

-More visual graphics. For example: I'd like to see objects that move or spin or topple or do something to imply movement.

-More glow effects. There are a few items that do this now, basic lighting and some flowers that glow but I'd like to see more of these items. I'm sure these are on the punch-list for future creations already because we see a plethora of these in big cities like Grahtwood.

- I'd like to see more vibrant decor. I have little expectation in this area because I know items will be based of in-game lore and what pre-exists already. If we've seen it in game, i'm sure it may eventually be made available as housing decor. This desire brings me back to more glow effects really. I just want more vibrant, colorful decor. Not the same old wood, stone, reed and leather pelt look. Think of this like armor, there is armor you can wear/obtain with lightening effects, bright glowing reds, blues, etc.

- The ability to resize objects. Make an object bigger or smaller then its original model (I want to make this sofa bigger or I want to make this tree smaller).

- More basic building components (walls, doors, floor tiles, etc) there is a very small variety of these already available which is promising for future options.

- Another constructive note. Most of the furniture recipes require very large amounts of materials and some of those materials make little to no sense for the item you are crafting. I'd like see material costs reduced or brought more in line with what it would practically require to make the object. For example, why do candles need flour and nickel? A candle requires wax (which is a crafting item in game) and a wick. A bit silly but perhaps just a ploy to make it more difficult and drive us to spend crowns on the items instead of using gold or grinding time to obtain it all, this would not surprise me.

I have a great deal more feedback on the matter but I think this is a good start to the discussion! Feedback and ideas? Post it! Lets make this new feature great, the best! Lets have our opinions viewed!

It would be really awesome if every home-related item in provisioning didn't require 20 flour. That's just insane for the sake of being insane. :/ It's not a fun challenge to gather that much flour; it's a constant annoyance that makes the game LESS fun.

    Just my personal opinion.

As for what I'd want in the houses, though, I most want animal-skin rugs, like a sabre cat pelt rug, or a bear or wolf rug.

A redguard candle on a stick is 4 heartwood
An entire huge Breton merchant stall is 6 heartwood

Luckily I don't have a heartwood supply problem but that is just ridiculous.

The recipes need to make some sense.

I agree that there needs to be more animated objects, and maybe even a wildlife spawner object.

I thought about this as well. It sounds great on paper, but live it would look horrible. Im not sure Zeni would like having their objects being distorted and resized. These items are not vectorized objects. Meaning at some point they will start to look pixelated if you make them LARGER. The pixelation and bad quality would easily be seen on console where players play on large TV's.

I would like to set a path for my pet to walk around on like the paths that npc do over and over again this way my home seems more alive and not just pets but mounts and assistance

    - Player cap increase
    - Item limit increase

I would gladly drop $$$$ for crowns for both of these things. As it is the very low cap for both is limiting my fun with homestead a lot.

For less important things, I'd love to see more decor options. I like the racial themed furniture, but we need more knickknacks and things to put on the many shelves and surfaces we have. We also are sorely lacking on any armor/weapon/combat related decorations.

Oh, and give us bookshelves already filled with books as one item so we don't have to use 8 item slots to make one full bookcase? Please?

ah..... so that's why flour is selling so well at the moment.

I recently spent 7500 crowns for the furnished Mathiisen Manor house (well over 1 million gold). Even though it has 8 fireplaces and 4 braziers, I can't cook with any of them like I can in other similar homes. All I can do is light them and extinguish them, like a large expensive candle. As a result my kitchen staff have to travel across the bridge into town and use cooking fires there. But by the time they come back the food is cold.

Sure, I can pay more gold for a campfire to cook my food, but building a campfire inside my home is unacceptable. And cooking outside doesn't work well in bad weather. We need fireplaces that we can also cook with.

I agree with raising the item cap. I can't have all my mounts, pets, and assistants join me on my estate.

I also have many collectable items that I can't seem to place in my home, as well as "Monster Trophies" that don't show up on the trophy list to place.

It would also be nice to have walls and doorways I can add as a unit rather than having to build them from scratch, which uses more slots. I have some "bedrooms" that are nothing more than hallways that I would like to enclose.

Now if you will excuse me, we are going into town to eat.

I agree completely with item limit increase (especially for larger homes). Player cap increase would be great though i only use my current home for myself and rarely have visitors.

A thought on a way to alleviate some of the item count stress is to not include flora (trees/rocks/shrubs/etc) toward the item count. Even with buying my home unfurnished it still came with 160 items toward the limit and it was all flora that i had to remove to gain some of that count back.

I get this, but I also wasn't really looking for largely significant resizing. I don't want to make a flower the size of a tree or anything that drastic. Make an item a bit smaller or a bit larger on a scaled level without stretching or distorting the original model dimensions. But something like this I can see not being implemented because it would be a huge undertaking to make work.

Another thought. I'd like to see either storage inside housing (So I don't have to use up bank and inventory slots for furnishings) or a new furnishings bag feature, similar to the harvest-able bag feature currently available with a paid sub/DLC.

On another note, I'd love to be able to capture torch bugs and set them lose in my house. Nothing like a bunch of fireflies roaming about! Great for ambiance!

I agree! I just wasted 50k on 2 Breton Gravewatcher statues and was going to put them inside my house next to my throne, but...they're too big. :( I can't even sell them back to the vendor for anything either.

Additionally, I'd like to have the option to make the object a different color than the default one -- but only if it doesn't require you to have to have a certain dye collected.
