Hi All, so on the steam forums as well, one moment we were ok, then next some of try to play again and the ZoS game launcher crashes. I uninstalled mine and reinstalled, 4 hours later and the above link is now what I'm seeing. It automatically just crashes and will not launch the game.

Please Help.

Ok, so I went to my Library, right clicked my game for properties. Local fiels tab, Browse local files.

From there right clicked ""zosSteamStarter"" and "Run as Administrator".

It started an update and added patches. Suffice to say, using this option was the way I was able to
get back into my game.

Steam version, PC Windows. (Windows 8.1)

However that said, it still crashed from the log in. So I took it a step further, I went to this path: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Zenimax Online\The Elder Scrolls Online\game\client and right clicked ""eso64"", launcher worked, got right to the log in, however I needed to go to my email to get a Access code because it said: """We noticed an attempt to log in to your account for The Elder Scrolls Online from a new IP address. If you made this attempt, please enter the code below when prompted in game.""" Once I got the email and entered the access code I was able to log in, choose my character and enter the game.

That said, I exited the game and retested logging in via Steam, steam still has the same crash. So I added eso64 to my desktop as shortcut to get into the game. HOWEVER that also said, it does not store your password, only user name. You will need to remember and enter your password every time.

I hope this helps until Zenimax figures out how to fix this new now known issue. Thanks.

well, just to say, having issues as well when starting the game...........

the pc crashes, never had this before
if I start the game when NOT using the browser before, all functions normal

You are running through steam so I am not positive but run a repair on the launcher to search for bad files and auto repair them first .

Your desktop triggers my OCD . I just want to clean and optimize it and get rid of some of those terrible programs ... I will stop starring at it but try that . Make sure steam is updated and has auto update on too .

Ok so here is where I'm at on that, There is no options via steam to verify integrity of files. I uninstalled ZoS and reinstalled. I then went to steam options and opt's out of beta. None of these options worked. The only thing I haven't tried yet is reinstalling the original game I purchased off of Bethesda before I repurchased the same game from steam to see if that version had the same issue. I haven't seen anyone else post any information yet if the Bethesda version works over the steam client version.

Try bypassing the launcher altogether and use the eso.exe or eso64.exe directly.

Steam and ESO are best enemies....

Same issue. Here's what I did: ran a repair through the launcher and added administrator privileges to the x64 .exe, which had been removed for random reasons. I also launched first in 32bit mode. One of those three things fixed the Steam launcher for me.

Hi, I'm sorry I'm posting after my post but I have a question, this coming Monday is supposed to be another update. Will this update help solve the issue of the steam version of the Zenimax ESO launcher from crashing? Everytime I open it from steam in order to hit the play button on the botton right, the Launcher just crashes. And I had noticed this since September 11th. 4 days now and I haven't seen any office ZoS person say they would look into it nor did I get an email reply from reporting the issue from in-game help function.
