Maintenance for the week of December 22:

Is there any legitimate reason there's no trading section on this site?

Or is it just more logic according to ZOS, which is typically no logic at all? I need all avenues open to me right now, and this restriction on trades is cutting off a pretty big one.

We have never had trading boards here for many good reasons. People do all right without them.

If you want to know why, just visit any of the other trading sites out there for this game. You will see out of date listings for one. Actually that is the main reason as people do not update these listings and nobody at ZOS wants to babysit the listings. Then what if multiple people make something to fulfill an order, or multiple people want the item, how do they respond, to the thread, an in game message? Someone is going to get to the seller first, and the rest are going to get upset over that. Who is going to referee that mess? Add in the ensuing drama that can occur surrounding this that ZOS also does not want to babysit, there will never be a trade section on these boards.
Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

Well that's the biggest issue right there. Not that there might be disputes or disappointment, but that ZOS thinks they have to babysit us over every little thing. It's an issue even now. If there was a separate trade section, that "mess" would be well contained.

Well, if you think it will be so easy to run, go to a web hosting company and put up a web page and manage it. Then you will have your trading site.

See I could do that, but no one would use it. There are two that I know of already. One is eso-rp, barely active in the trading section. The other is an actual trading site that has probably been dead for years. Completely inactive. I highly doubt I'd have any better luck.

I understand why they don't want trading in the general forum. But why there's no trading section is beyond me.

Legitimate other than the developers/moderators statements...no but it's within their stance on o auction house and shutting down websites back during pc launch

Here, I did some googling for you. Reddit is just as active, in some ways more active than these boards.

    https://www.reddit.com/r/ESObay/

    https://www.reddit.com/r/ESOtrade/

After using the existing threads on that site, you will come to understand the reason why. Basically, they don't work. As much as you want to believe they do, they don't.

I don't remember any of these being a real issue on the SWG trading subforums. Did SWG just have a better community?

Different game in a different time. I did not play that game, but back then, forums were a primary means of communication over a game, and people tended to focus on one portal. (Did SWG tie your forum account to your game account?) Anyway, as far listing items today, there is another reason why posts in social media work all that well. It is fractured between Facebook, Reddit, Numerous Guild Websites, Fan Websites, independent trading pages. The Reddit ones are the most active that I have seen.

There could also be legal reasons as to why, Corporations and lawyers are good at sucking the fun out of a scenario.

There is an addon based website that works for the PC for providing some listings. However the only reason these are updated is the addon, not active input. That would just be an auction house if ZOS did it for all 180 plus Kiosks, and we all know that ain't gonna happen.

    Hint
Now, if you read between the lines here, you will look for that website (TTC) and search out what is listed on there. If your on a different platform than PC, then just note the cities you find the items listed in. Human nature being what it is, and the game geography being what it is, I bet stuff that is most listed in say Wayrest is going to be the same on any platform. But note about 5 different places and I think you will find it before you run out of cities.
