I have read the code of conduct any times and it does not mention pacifically scamming . Does mention not to be mean etc. when I say scamming I mean, they give you something gold or crafting materials and you don't do it and run off with it . Can you get a ban or is it free game?

Free game tbh, they don't ban for scamming or exploiting

Well of course it doesn't mention pacifically spamming. The Pacific Ocean isn't in the game.

You might mean specifically spamming, in which case, it probably doesn't. This is why, when I am buying something from another player, I only use CoD (Collect on Delivery) through the mail system.

    they used to.
i don't know if they still honor it, but a few years ago if someone scammed you, and you show proof that it happened the devs would ban the scammer.

I've had a friend on CONSOLE surprisingly get a 3 day ban for scamming 60k from someone at skyreach
I'm a PVE roleplayer concerned about my vampires stage 4 skin tone and keep getting load screens so I came here to distract people from major issues with a rant thread about my characters cosmetic appearance.

Did you perchance mean a "former friend"?

If I am buying, selling to, or making gear for people I don't know, I always screen shot our conversation. I make sure it says I will pay x for y, etc...

I also let them know that I am doing it as well. Just a precaution that I always take. I have never had an issue, but I do it everytime for both our sakes.

I got trade scammed out of a psijic ambrosia recipe a few days back. Scammer used a third party controller to remove gold and accept in less than a second. Reported him. Now I refuse to do anything but CoD, but the postage is a pain. Why do we need to pay just so we can trade without being scammed? How is that reasonable?

Gross. You'd think that they would ban players for that sort of nastiness. I had wondered how someone could make a switch that fast, the trade scamming did not make sense to me until I read this thread. I'm glad I was warned to just use C.O.D.

ZOS, please go ahead and ban people for whom there is proof of cheating. They don't deserve to play or be around other people. If you're not going to ban them then please remove your restriction on naming and shaming so that others can be warned.

another one people like to do is advertise a bis item like necro sharp inferno- then when it comes to trade- swap it for a decisive and hope the other person does not check the trait. ive been done like that a couple times early on when i was too eager and thirsty to be patient/

I picked up a lvl 36 epic spriggans ring while levelling recently, advertised it in zone and some guy brought it off me for 20K. After taking it he blows up at me for it not being lvl 160, I had only linked the lvl 36 one in zone chat and he had every option to check it so I just added him to my ignore list.....

I've heard of someone getting scammed selling a cipher through trade window but they got reinbursed since the item is quite alot atleast 1.5m. I heard that the buyer used a background software to instantly swap 1.5m to 15k in a split millisecond or even less of the timing right before the other person accepted.

On topic, don't be a jerk and try to scam people, OP. Any short term gain will be superseded by potential bans and definite blacklisting by other players.

i dont see how this is really possible, since they'd have to do it right as the person was clicking accept. and since they dont know the exact moment that is about to happen...

Well, you know how it is...
    insurance-caveat.jpg
    ...this.

If you do a trade with a stranger that approaches you with a "super nifty deal"... there is always the chance you will end up regretting it - that is the risk you take when trading with strangers.
(Cash on Delivery is a better way for private trades - doesn't help much with crafting contracts though)

When you buy at the guild stores, there is no risk at all, but you may not get quite as good a deal.

    Choices, consequences.
Me, I prefer the security of knowing what I'll get for my gold over getting a "sweet deal"...

Can anyone comment on the purpose of postage? Where does it go and what is it for? Why is there a charge for this and not trading? Are they discouraging use of the mail system for trade?
I don't comment here often but when I do, I get [snip]

    What?

If you accepted first, them changing would unconfirm you, and if they did first, then you should see.

It's a bug in the trading window that allows people to scam you.

OP sounds slimy, tbh. In my game, in-person trades are for friends only. Everyone else who wants to trade with me goes through the mail, no exceptions.

Sorry but under the terms of service scamming other players would fall under this:
"Harass, stalk, threaten, embarrass, spam or do anything else to another user of any Services that is unwanted, "

I would suspect being scammed would be doing something unwanted to another character and could result in suspension of account.
