Bummed out - CPU Upgrade woes

I just dusted off my old Athlon II computer with a GT220 video card in it - hoping to get away from laptop. Only to find out it doesn't support DirectX11.

Sighs...

I bit the bullet and upgraded to a Gigabyte X370 board with AMD Ryzen and (also) Gigabyte RX550. Spending money sucks. But on the bright side, should be blazing, and I mean blazing faster.

That still sounds below recommended specs.

And is probably going to still perform worse then a 200 console...

What kind of laptop do you run eso on?

@KingYogi415 I am unsure how a Ryzen processor with a RX 550 is below ESO recommended specs? RX 550 runs just as good as a GTX 750Ti

Yea, ESO will run fine with that.

Pro-tip: Build a proper gaming desktop. It might seem steep paying $1000-1500 upfront, but it will last you several years, and you'll get to actually enjoy the benefits of PC gaming (if you're going to game on a cheap computer, you might as well get a console, which will look and run better). When it comes time to upgrade, you can easily just swap out the GPU (CPUs have a long shelf life).

@MLGProPlayer It's a good tip, that's what I do. I'm still using a ten year old case, it was just time to get on the AM4 bandwagon since I had to upgrade my video card. I figured make the plunge now. Keep the HDD, blu ray burner etc.. keep on trucking for about $500.00 (works for me).

I typically stay 3 years behind the curve. But since AM4 will more than likely be around for at least half as long as AM3 was, I figured just do it. Can always pop a new proc and gpu in.

Believe it or not, the Ryzen 1200 runs pretty dang for a 65w $100 proc!

Lol, I always go in with the intentions of keeping parts and build a new machine with just the MOBO, CPU, GPU, RAM. But then I see a new case that is nice, and I think, well, the old machine could used as a file server or the GF could use it, or perhaps a DNLA Server, something useful.

So, I buy all new parts, build the rig. Then I put the old one in the closet and forget about it for a couple of years.

So, I have 4 old systems with sweet cases sitting on a shelf in my closet. And I really need to reuse this case again

Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

My own personal thinking: "Hmm, the kids machine could really use an upgrade...might as well give them mine and upgrade my own!" >:)
