Help with vMSA Breton templar build?

Hi, I main a templar healer CP 300. I want to start doing vMSA and need all advice and help I can get.

I'm not looking to compete in leaderboards, just want to be able to do. I see a lot of templars on the leaderboards tho.

What skills, gear, CP points and so on do you recommend for a Breton templar in vMSA?

If you complete it it's not hard to catch the tail end of the leaderboard since there are so few people doing the arena on other classes than sorc or NB. A good combo would be something like 5 Julianos 4 IA 2 Monster set. Double lightning staff is probably best since the weave is easy and most of your skills will be AoEs benefitting from the passive. If you don't have IA you can use 4p from other sets that give you max magicka, spell damage or spell crit or even 5 and a monster piece instead of the full set. You can use Mother's Sorrow for the extra crit for example since jewels and small body pieces are easy to farm since Templars have 10% crit damage bonus. As for monster sets anything that gives you spell damage, crit or max magicka works. For starters even 2p Iceheart is not bad since it gives you an extra shield and a bit of AoE damage.

    5 julianos, 2 grothdarr,
3 willpower/moondancer/infall aether/master architect jewelry. im guessing at cp 300, you dont have trial weapons and def not maelstrom weapons for a first timer.

at cp 300 its gonna be tough, yes vma was created with the thought of 300 cp, but its gonna be rough for your first time. my best advice, complete it with a mag sorc or mag nb if you have one

im assuming youre going melee with sweeps, thats probably the only adv a magplar has but if you have nothing to attack, no heals. make sure to slot a shield, harness magicka. have channeled focus for resources, slot spell power pots or magicka pots. not an easy class to finish vma with and not with an optimal race for dps, but its manageable. best of luck

    Julianos is craftable and potent.

Don't overlook skoria, it's great in vMA.

Run the arena 10 times on normal, make sure you have dangerous moments and mechanics down.

20k health. Yes you'll have less sustained damage, no that won't stop you from clearing.

Restoration staff on back bar is a perfectly viable option, as is mutagen if you need more healing.

Lightning staff heavy attacks work great if you're in a pinch for magicka, or can't get near enough to sweeps mobs.

Check out Alcast and Joy Division's guides, Alcast has tons of build and playtime in there and Joy has a guide that's really extensive. Not to mention, I'm 99% sure that templar is their main.

Incidentally I do have a Breton templar. I'll give it a go in my PvP build, since it seems adequate. 5 Julianos 5 Amberplasm 2 Skoria with Whichmother's brew (39K Magicka, 1.8K magicka recovery, 1K stamina recovery, 3.1K spell damage, 53% spell crit, 18K health). Of course it's all impenetrable but that doesn't matter that much.

I would use 5x Shacklebreaker, 5x Masterarchitect (Spinners if you don't have it I guess), 2x Grothdarr with sword and board + destro in heavy armor.

It sounds wierd at first, but trust me it's great if you aren't to good in vMA. Most good players of course run high damage builds, but those require you to know what you are doing to be effective. If you don't have the experience to enable your damage on a squishy build you will be better of playing tanky.

I recoment to use a lightning destro and a resto setup. I like the healing bubble more than bol in vma. 20k health for the first time will help you not get oneshoot. Also search for guids on youtube.

Stop playing PVE because its boring, content not disigned for melee players and class balance and sustain is ***

Heavy Armor for vMA is actually a horrible idea, since the Morrowind changes.

    For a 1L/1M/5H setup, compared to 5L/1M/1H:
    - you will lack 5K penetration (Concentration passive) and 10% critical rating (Prodigy passive), meaning your DPS will drop by around 20%. Some fights require you to burst enemies before your defence sigil expires, the next wave comes or other mechanics come into play to kill you no matter how much resistance you have. And Templar is 2nd to last among classes in terms of DPS, not far above Warden.
    - you will lack 12% cost reduction (Evocation passive) on your skills and 16% recovery (Recovery passive) - Templar has the most expensive skills of any class and swapping light for heavy will mean going from mediocre sustain to terrible sustain. It may look like you will be able to sustain due to Constitution passive from Heavy armor but you really don't want to get hit a lot in vMA, not even in heavy armor. You need to shield (if magicka) or roll dodge (if stamina).
