Exterior vs. Interior

Greetings, forum folks!

There is one thing about houses, that really bothering me, which is discrepancy of interior and exterior. Sometimes it just small details, like wrong size of windows in Ravenhurst or on the second floor of Gardner House, sometimes it looks more drastically, like Domus Phrasticus and Amaya Lake Lodge, where interior is in total disagreement with exterior. One can find more examples with no time. I open this discussion to find out two things.

First, how much players are disappointed by these flaws? Does it matter at all?

Second, are developers planning to do something about it, at least in cases with minor discrepancy (Ravenhurst, Gardner House, etc.)? And should we point them out at it?

Cheers,
Dem

I really don't mind about minor stuff like window sizes etc. What I do mind about is the huge discrepancy in available interior space. So many houses appear to have far more space/floors from the outside, then when you go in it's a different matter entirely.

Regarding the Gardner House, as I mentioned in a post earlier this morning, it is one of the few houses that actually does have the space you would expect from the outside....and more, as it has a full-sized cellar. Good bang for your buck with that one imo.

Was going to purchase the Amaya Lodge until I realized there is a huge area under the bedroom on the second floor that is unavailable, there should be a very large room there but instead it is walled off

I'm also disappointed by how there isn't that extra pace in Amaya Lake Lodge where there should be a large room. However, that is not the biggest discrepancy in my opinion. No, the biggest issue for me is Hakkvild's High Hall. Never before have I seen such an imbalance between interior and exterior. It is LITERALLY just one large octagonal room with a small entrance foyer Two rooms, plus a balcony that you can only access HALF of by way of a terribly placed door.

Easily the worst interior in terms of being compared to its exterior. For me, the two houses that balance this the best are Hunding's Palatial Hall and Ebonhart Chateau. Granted HPH isn't a manor, but it is a fairly large house nonetheless with a fantastic exterior in addition to its decent interior. And EC has a decent courtyard that may not be as large as HHH's or Linchal Grand Manor's exteriors, but it is still spacious nonethless. In addition, EC has, in my opinion, the best interior of any house in the game so far aside from Earthtear Cavern.

I've always loved Hundings. It's simply my absolute favourite.

Such a beautiful setting with that large terrace overlooking the beach and ocean, and all round the house grounds with stable and full lookout tower, and round pond. So much space both inside and out. And a huge interior courtyard so typical of North African and Middle Eastern architecture. If you aren't more than happy with the space available, then there's the huge roof terraces which are accessible with a bit of imagination.

My only sorrow is being eaten by slaughterfish when trying to swim to the nearby island....which has an invisible wall which I discovered when laying planks across the water to avoid the slaughterfish.

Oh and of course the inevitable ridiculous item limit, which is even worse for a large property like this.....it's larger than most manors but has the item limit for a large house. Sheesh ZO$ for heaven's sake do something about it!

@Aurelle1 That island is weird because it's like why did they put it there then allow you to go 90% of the way but not on it?? You can still decorate it, though. I made mine an AD breachhead with fire ballista, shields and camps.

Like Aurelle I don't mind the minor discrepancies like different sized windows, but the major ones bother me.

I was seriously considering buying the Imperial house in Craglorn (Domesticus Phastius?) until someone pointed out the discrepancy between the inside and the outside. Now I can't stop myself seeing it every time I preview the place and I just know it'd bother me when I came to decorate it.

Fortunately my favourite house is Mournoth Keep which is pretty much an exact match (I think the doorways are slightly different, but that's all).

I've paid attention to houses in different game zones and came to the conclusion that such mistakes are quite prevalent. Now it bothers me much less.

First house I've bought. There is minor discrepancy with the size of the second floor, but that's all.

Is there any chance, that it was me? I've posted a thread on this a few month ago. :D Regarding this house I've decided to decorate interior as Oblivion pocket with a sigil stone and relevant daedric stuff. Still haven't figured out how to hide windows, though.

Yeah...my husband purchased that one before he noticed all the discrepancies. He never goes there since it bothers him so much. I'd previewed the homes a couple of times, but never noticed the issues until he pointed them out.

My husband also pointed out the problem with the Amaya Lake Lodge and the missing room on the first floor. But, he liked the rest of the home so much that it didn't bother him and he purchased it and loves it. I'm planning to purchase it too, as I don't notice those issues as much. In fact, I'm not sure I would have noticed if he hadn't pointed it out to me.

It all comes down to what you're willing to live with. I'd never get HHH for example, since the interior of that home is just plain aggravating because it's just so stupid! It's the Mages Guild hall in Windhelm/Riften, but they took out the stairs and the landing, so that there are two separate balconies. But, there's only access to one of them via an awkwardly (stupidly) placed door. The interior of that home is just slapdash.

On the positive side of things, having a mismatched first/second floor allows you to place furniture that sinks into the floor or wall without affecting the other space. So I was able to hang chandeliers in Amaya lake lodge without having to hide to long chains that protrude from the floor above. :)

In domus p, i put up walls where the second story window is to pretend the chimney is there... Since the chimney comes out in the middle of the roof, even though the fireplace is on the side of the house.

I explain it as "magical hvac".
