So I was in vWGT and everything went smootly up until this fight. It was already tough, and even in normal could stop groups cold and break them, never mind vet. However, the recent upgrades to the boss have actually doubled the difficulty. 2 people get the gray now, which would make a hard fight go a bit smoother and with everything else remaining the same. Getting double the rifts, with 3x the hp to break and double the mob spawn speed, took an already very hard vet boss fight (keeping up the hp is hard with the sheer damage output) and made it twice as hard or more as it already was. Please either take it back to the way it was or drop down the portal count and hp to a more reasonable number.
Also, please don't make the same mistake Blizzard did and think that more and tougher mechanics make things more entertaining for the majority of your players. Trust me, they don't. They just exclude content from players in an ever increasing amount as they frustrate people. Either the people not able to do them readily or the groups that kick them for not doing it perfectly the first few times while they get used to them.
