Soul Assault v. Negate

Soul Assault is noob and Negate is gangsta yet consider the following!

The following are 2 true stories...

a) a top player i see all of the time owning me and others sees me alone and comes hopping at me like tigger! I pull out my noob skills and javelin him to the face, proc my crazy cool poison on him, then soul assault as he keeps bounding at me like tigger. After what looks like something from THE MATRIX (aka animation cnacelling attacks) i fall dead without so much as an opportunity to "see" what im defending against. im not good, i respect the other player, there is no hate here, relax, "why you mad?" guy.

b) a group of top players set up a tower farm and after my group takes the farm back and they have set up inside the tower we go in for the eventual ring-around-the rosie they like to play, casting this and that gobbling up that good ap! this time i have a plan! i drop negate on the group as i catch them off guard and seeing they've been negated they scatter like roaches and i am standing over the 5star wiping his elitist blood off my weapon! ahahaha

but seriously = question! = why is soul assault a noob skill when its harder to get, and is apparently less effective than negate which requires to just be a sorc and have level 12 in the skill line?

How can you Javelin someone in the face and ALSO negate them ?

not worried about people! just really curious as to why one is noob and the other isn't when one looks more cheesier than the other.

frankly animation cancelling seems cheesier than soul assault.

Its not about how you get them its about how you execute them. Animation canceling and performing a skill combo requires a lot of practice whereas soul assault is just ''aim and press a button''. Soul assault have its counters and animation canceling separates the casual crowd from competitive people.

Soul Assault is not particularly 'hard' to get now, just rattle thru the main quest which is pretty easy now its not level locked

SA is a noob cannon or if used in groups can be effective. It has too many counters tho. Mind you so does negate, you just roll out of it.

Negate is the best skill in the game, but only under very specific circumstances.

My sorc has it slotted 100% of the time if I'm expecting to fight a competent group with healers.

If I'm in a solo fight or fighting a bunch of scrubs, I'd rather just kill them more quickly and so I use soul assault.

If a medium user was causing you trouble, healing well, dodging well, ccing etc... and you was struggling to kill him and then use your ult.

Negate would maybe panic them for a second, they may just power through it and not reapply buffs or not use their magicka cc etc... or they'd roll once or twice out of it.

Soul assault would instantly melt the guy giving him no counter as it either kills him outright or eats 80% of him stamina and he is forced to block the absorb amount of ticks which cost a lot with the block changes as well as spam rally and vigor in hopes he can not die.

1 ult is a circumstantial ult, has counters, is good vs groups, expensive, class specific, useless vs stamina kind of.

1 ult is a 1 hit win button with no counters. Used by worse players to kill better players because of how stupidly strong it as.

Played in a BG yesterday vs a group of 3 Templars and 1 NB. The Templars were just sitting in their houses, chaining heals to each other, waiting for Soul Assault to get up, and then SA/RD everyone. At 1 point I had an SA followed by 2 RDs on me. It's not fun, the ult is way too powerful for the cheap cost. Playing in BGs a bit more lately also led me to agree a bit more with @DDuke - boy there is a ton of undodgeable stuff in the game. Annoying. Just as the gazillion of snares.
