We need a revamp of Economy and Crafting

In order to breathe new life into TESO for me, I would really like to see a revamp to the crafting system and economy system. This is not another guild store discussion, but rather a discussion about how TESO Economy is very limited which is what is keeping it from growing so much more than it could. Take a look at some other MMO's like BDO, WOW, and others. MMO's thrive when they have a thriving economy system and deep crafting system.

These systems is what keeps many players engaged and logging on every day. When you limit crafting with so many drop sets that make crafting less optimal, and limit the economy by only allowing certain people to sell goods to others via shops/auction houses, your system becomes flawed and limits growth. So I purpose two ideas to make this game wake up a bit.

CRAFTING

Revamp crafting, introduce jewel crafting. The crafting system is already very deep but it needs a lot of help. Why can't I find a full set of hundings rage for example in guild stores? Because everyone can craft everything themselves. A huge flaw I have always found is this. Instead, crafting should be taken out of the skill tree and moved to another system like most other MMO's call professions. Each player can choose 2 or 3 professions per character which would make you have to use alts, or what do ya know, BUY ITEMS FROM OTHERS! For example, I can choose wood working, leather working, and enchanting. So if I need cloth armor, swords, or what ever else I can't craft from my three, I must pursue other people or alts. Crafting should take a long time and hard work to master as well like the research does. This is an MMO, not a single player rpg, so IMO changes to support group play should be made when it comes to crafting, and also what we are going to talk about next, the economy.

ECONOMY

The eco in this game is very much controlled by a few players in comparison to the total number of players. It is controlled by guilds that acquire guild stores and those players in those guilds. These said players are usually pressured to sell high and sell lots in order to maintain their guild memberships, which is required to access the only way to sell freaking items in this game. Is ZOS made of the Illuminati and want to simulate that in this game? LOL. I don't care if we keep the guild store setup the way it is but we need other ways to sell our goods. Its time to give guilds a little competition. Im truly tired of feeling pressured by others to sell things at prices I don't agree with, just so I can maintain my guild status just so I can have access to the only tool in the game to sell items to other conveniently. So what do I propose? I have no idea because if I say AH, because that is what we actually freaking need, people are going to rage and the point will be lost in a wall of hate posts focusing on one single point I made in this out of a million very important points. So yes, an auction house is really needed because the current state of the ECO in TESO (heh rhyme) blows. It's terrible guys. If we don't get an AH, then give us something else, or give everyone the ability to sell in guild stores even if you're not in their guild, and the guilds. This way the guilds still make their money and players make theirs without the pressure of the Illuminati.

Thanks for reading this, can you please stay civil and work together on how we can make this game's crafting and economy better so I have something to do in TESO after everything else is 100%?

Create competition? You clearly don't understand how the guild trading system works. The current system is an enormous gold sink and PREVENTS players for easily manipulatin market prices. Running a trading guild takes an insane amount of time and effort, it's very competitive. And quite unforgiving. Jewelry crafting would have a huge impact on both PvE and PvP so they can't just put that in the game. What they should do is allow player generated writs that other players can do to get the gear they need from other players at the prices they want. Call it a bounty of gear or items if you will. That would be huge.

    1. The suggestion of adding jewelrycrafting is certainly not a novel idea. Even the devs mentioned it, 3 years ago. So, basically, until we hear something firm from the devs, other than a more recent mention they think it would be OP.
    • Adding jewelrycrafting will not help the economy long term, outside of selling the matts just like with the crafting currently available.
    3. It is almost irrelevant if crafting is a skill tree or a profession. I have had all professions in each MMO that used that method. All it will do here is force people to do 3x the work since it would mean doing full research on 3 characters and acquire 3x the motifs. BTW, I have all crafting maxed on 7 characters and research completed on 4 characters.
    • It is really no different than other MMOs. Some items are desired and others not. ESO has plenty that is desired and sells well.
OP starts off stating this is not another guild store discussion but then he accuses the guild stores and those that are members of the guilds that acquire them of controlling the economy. In the end, OP just wants a lame AH.

All that just for another AH thread.

Why can't I find a full set of hundings rage for example in guild stores?

Because I don't know which of 33 different styles you prefer. And when people are spending lots of gold on armor, they are often choosy about how it looks. Regardless of the merit (or not) of the rest of your argument, this observation of yours has no bearing on it.

You clearly don't understand economics, something that isn't far removed from a cartel system with huge restrictions on both supply (the limited number of spots for guild traders, plus max number of players in a guild), which instead of an open market with free flowing information is in fact the opposite, is a total joke as "competition", and that is without even going into things like guilds colluding, buying up spots to stop newer guilds, etc.

In other MMO's the guild i was in pooled money and bought high end mats on the AH and marked the prices up, we made a fortune.

While I am mostly apathetic at this point and would be thrilled to manipulate prices so YOU pay more, its a bad idea. The current system is pretty good.

Only a top few guilds have good spots, not to mention all the "shadow" guilds created to steal spots so smaller trader guilds don't have a chance.

Meanwhile in WoW I can easily hop in and sell stuff as needed without needing to worry about making any sort of fees, if the trader is in a good spot or if the guild is going to lose the bidding. I can just gather material and sell it, no middle man.

Either way that small rambling aside: Maybe an "open" trader in each of the big cities that functions as an auction house for those not in a trader's guild? Won't be global, but zone wide.

Don't know what server you play on, but I've had Hunding's, Julianos, and TBS move quickly on guild stores following this latest patch.

What they "need" is a commission system, where a player can purchase a commission note on a guild trader, I then get a notice that they want a certain set crafted, then I deliver it to an NPC to receive the escrowed gold and the NPC mails it to the player. That would be the bomb-diggity.
