ZoS- Clarification Critting Pet Sets

Fixed an issue where Item Sets that summon monsters could critically strike.

@ZOS_GinaBruno Can we please get more specifics on what sets were critting that now aren't? Was it just Maw or does this also extend to other sets? This is extremely frustrating, as people who were using them may not have even known they were critting, and now have no way of knowing whether or not they got nerfed.

Below are the item sets that were affected by this fix:
    • Bogdan the Nightflame
    • Chokethorn
    • Defiler
    • Engine Guardian
    • Maw of the Infernal
    • Morkuldin
    • Sentinel of Rkugamz
    • Shadowrend
As far as the change itself, proc sets cannot critically strike; this change made it so the sets that summon monsters are consistent with the current game mechanics.

That's sad. Morkuldin could crit and it'd still be garbage.

With this changes, consider a buff to the Morkuldin set. The 5-piece bonus was already useless before this nerf.

As a 9 trait set, it would be nice if it stood out in some way. Like say it applied moderate slayer while active?

Yea was testing out Morkuldin a few days ago since it would have been nice with crits, but the low % chance of 10% per light atk put me off it, not gonna bother with further testing now that it cant even crit. Sad.

This goes to pretty much 90% of damaging, healing sets. Because of 9-10 overperforming sets, they were nerfed out of existence. Talk about introducing set variety.

    Thanks for the details...

Can I ask a question not specifically about this fix, but fixes in general?

Playing on console, I know there are times when we are a patch or two behind, but I feel like when major updates hit, we are usually fairly close to the same base game.

Would it be possible in the console release notes to indicate a "soon to be addressed" section? Issues we know are fixed on pc and didn't make the console patch in time for release?

But, for specifics to this thread, is this fix included in the console release scheduled for tomorrow morning?

Wowee zowee, I think you guys @ZOS could have buffed these sets to crit 100% of the time and they still would have been unreliable and trashy on the whole.

Sure, we can easily post some known issues at the end of the patch notes (mainly things that will still be an issue on console, but have already been fixed for PC). As far as this particular fix, it will not be included in the console update. In fact, it's safe to say that nothing in today's PC patch will be in tomorrow's console update.

They just need to rework it so that it's light attacks register as your own, allowing it to proc things like assassins will...

Thanks for the info Gina. As these sets just barely stood up to others (if that) when they were critting, it would probably be a good idea to give them some kind of buff so they can actually be used effectively. They are really cool sets, but unfortunately they are pretty much obsolete. :(

While I'm not a console player, I do think that is a good idea (obviously excluding anything which might be an exploit). Since the code fix is known, it'd probably be safe enough to also mention an ETA (which is hard to do before a fix has been found)
