I had a dream last night that I was at a keep seige and I could jump and turn into a jetplane and fire high calibur rounds...
But it got me thinking. What if there was a super expensive siege type item that you could only get from special mage vendors.
It allows you to summon a phoenix or lightning bird that hovers just high enough to move over keep walls. So that youre in range of enemies on walls, and perhaps theres a counter siege item like an aerial ballista.
It has a long cast time to summon and the "mount" moves very slowly, and screeches loudly alerting enemies.
With a long cast time, and pausing in position in the air, the phoenix or lightning can fire an AOE ability on the ground but its very vulnerable while doing so. If youre shot down from the sky you'll probably die unless you land on a keep wall.
Thoughts?

But FR give me a break guys, and think about it for a minute! Imagine it has a 15-20 second duration with modest life and doesn't do incredible damage but enough to make a difference and compliment ground seige. Perhaps only one can be flying near a keep and it can't land inside the enemy keep. This is actually a good idea. Going by lore, there are people who have managed to restore Dwemer airships. http://elderscrolls.wikia.com/wiki/Airships
While a giant bird might not be the best, it is possible that the airships could be implemented.
