    In PVE end game content, anyone that says magic is harder to play that stamina is hitting the skooma pipe a bit too hard. In PVP, the gap between the effectiveness of the various types of mitigation is much closer (which is a big reason that giving stam a damage shield would be game-breaking, they really dont need it in Cyro). It is more about playstyle than what is more difficult.

    Blade Cloak is good, yes, but it doesn't give you extra health like a damage shield does. If all damage shields in ESO worked like Blade Cloak, then they wouldn't be so strong. It's the ability to give yourself extra health (which is spammable) that is the reason why shields are able to prevent death so much more reliably. With Blade Cloak you take reduce damage, but you still have to rely on your healer (or run your own heal), whereas magicka builds can get by with only shields.

    As for brawler, that requires a 2hander, which most stamina builds don't use. Afaik the only viable builds running it are stam sorcs. Further, brawler is only a competent skill when you are hitting several targets with it, meaning it'll only be equal to or outperfom magicka shields when you are faced with add packs. Damage shields are generally at their most useful when you aren't in a fight, but rather trying to avoid damage in a mechanic. Brawler is extremely situational and doesn't cover all situations, like the sorcerer or light armour shield does.

    Personally I would love if Bone Shield was actually stam cost and scaling, since it would drastically increase survivability, especially since most (if not all) viable stam builds are melee range.
    As for PvP I think that stam damage shields wouldn't be unfair, considering shield spamming magicka builds still have access to dodgeroll, and as stamina builds would have all their defensive and offense abilities based in one resource, they shouldn't receive a nerf for using a shield, since magicka builds don't.

    Very true.

    It's really just a different approach to survival when going stam vs mag. It's been said before that good stam players work wonders with vigor, almost as though they do have a shield.
