It's on pc - i have HOTR update as well. I have 2/3 slots researching on woodworking atm and it will not let me select a third item to research. I have the passive required, but it's still bugged.

Pretty much this, sorry for the delayed response, it has been happening for almost a month now that you are unable to start new research because all slots are full even though it states 1/3 or 2/3. Only had it happen with Blacksmithing so far.
