A shout-out to all new players

So, recently one of my guilds has been getting a lot of new players joining in.
And I found yet another source of joy from this game and its community, something that made me reflect on the subject a little and brought a strong sense of nostalgia.

I like it when new players ask the simplest questions about the game and how everything works in general. It is really enjoyable to see them trying to learn and discover new things on their own or with people’s help, sharing what they have learned so far. I’ve always been kind of against power leveling on your very first character in any game, so I try to recommend people not to seek the ''how to level up the fastest'' guides but take it slow to get the most benefit from your own unique experience. Not judging anyone for doing that, of course, just sharing my personal view.

As a veteran player, I suddenly realized, after all these years, that this kind of experience is gone forever - since you leveled your first or first few characters at the very beginning. Even if you start out a completely new class after playing the game for so long, you’ll never get this feeling anymore. You’ll never ask where to get the cheapest mount, or how does the crafting work, or can you level up ''sneaking abilities'' like in Skyrim, you know, by sneaking a lot ;) There’s too much knowledge in a veteran player’s head already. It’s not good or bad but just how it is.

So that being said, this is my shout-out to the new players who recently joined the game. First of all, the lack of experience is easy to fix, so try to value your ''newness'', all the things unknown and puzzling. Because it will be inevitably gone after some time if you stick around with this game. And second, thanks for being here and making the game feel more alive and refreshing with your insights and discoveries.

The post might be stating obvious things but who cares. I am sure I’m not the only veteran here who might have the same view. Thanks for reading this.

I agree. Im far from beeing a Veteran, My main is CP220, but, i play since around 6 months and now my Way around. I just begin to build a second up. My main, lol. I had around 15/ 20 Characters created, diff Races, diff Alliances, mostly AD. One Character i got as high as Lvl 42. But, i noticed that i feel not comfortable, that i run into problems, i should not encouter. So i deleted and deleted. And then, i found a crazy Khajiit NB. I have my mobile searching all the Time for related Gamestuff, so decided at Lvl 44 to get him to Vampire. I dont know why people pay in Game or ESO in Crownstore any Money because i was around 5 mins in the reach at Night underway, let myself nearly get killed from some Bloodfiends and Tata. I tried to stay on Lvl 1, spoke with some players and now im a CP220 Khajiit Stam NB, Lvl4 Darkstalker Vamp with a setup that works for me. Can do Delves alone, need help for public Dungeons, run Cadwells Silver, it gets easier. Im happy that i have taken the time. At the Moment i run my 10, sometimes 15 Levels on my Main over 5 to 6 hours playtime and i dont care if i need another 12 months or even 24 Months, of work so long on my character how i need to. Feel comfortable with your character, your buildup, not with what Guides or other people tell you. Get and accept Help but in the End, Tamriel is so an amazing Place, just dont rush it

@DirkRavenclaw, this is the most important thing imo - when you find the playstyle that works for you the best. Pushing yourself to get better and better is one thing, but I think it's only good when you have found something that you truly like ;)

@Rohamad_Ali thanks for the comment :)

Really nice post, it's refreshing to see a positive post after such a long time. Posts like this are like a bright shining spot of goodness.

What with all the elitism and hatred which has been staining the forums for a long time, it's about time that friendship, kindness and joy take over.

Yea, at first it is fun disovering the nuances and aspects of a game but after playing it for so long, you expect to be more familiar with the game and slowly honing your skills whether it be exploring, learning lore, pve or pvp.
In my opinion, I dont ever want to be unfamiliar with something all over again just to feel that nostalgia, I worked hard to get to where I am.
Already made plenty of characters and found myself a big pve player in end game trials and dungeons with a side of pvp in battlegrounds.

ZOS will be creating new content for those wanting a challenge or something new, vvardenfell brought just that, more exploration, motifs, battlegrounds, and Halls of Fabrication. we can expect more

As a new player, I just want to express how grateful I am for all of the genuine help I receive when asking these "dumb" questions in general chat.

    You all rock. Seriously.

The God of Brutality knows of your escape. Hurry!

Remember when the MQ was interesting and surprising? I made a new character recently, and just for a moment in the Wailing Prison, I remembered just how it felt at first. I'm happy for people doing all those things for the first time. I hope they don't feel they have to rush to catch up.

    Hell yeah, it actually was!
I remember wiping a few miserable times on that Molag Bal fight, right when the game started out, and thinking I will never ever complete the MQ :D

I remember being in Grahtwood in April 2014 and seeing Elden Root for the first time from afar. It was one of the most epic memories I still carry up to this date along with many more. The first play through definitely is a stunning journey.

    Right?

Playing with new players is a beautiful experience since they can make you remember all those feelings. For example I once was playing a pug dungeon as tank. No one wanted to do the miniboss since we were just there for the gear of course. But I could tell this new player wanted to do it so I tell him ok lets do it. The others leave, so we did the boss, it took us a lot because the new player was like.. just spaming light attacks :D But when we kill the boss, he starts yelling "YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAAA AHAHAHAHAH".

It felt my heart with joy and love. :)
