Population seems like it is in free fall and the cancellation of the North America in-person gathering feels very much like pulling the plug. Kudos on fixing the in-game economy though. Clearly whatever gold shenanigans were happening the last couple years are fixed.4 -

We know a future exists and children exists in the future but not in current time of ESO, I wonder what happened.

Ah, I remember the children in FallOut. FallOut-2, to be exact... where they were removed in the european version because "oh, noes, you can kill them!"
Which led to a funny issue in a certain city... where in the US version (and yes, i got the import when I realized the issue) street urchins would steal items from you, and you could then steal your stuff back if you caght them before they fenced it... but in the EU version, there were no street urchins, but their invisible ghosts still stole your stuff... without any chance to take it back...
Anyways, yeah some countries here are strict on video game violence. And killable children leaves a bad taste in the censors mouth, so they like to slap that with a higher rating.
Easily solved by making NPC children auto-dodge all attacks, and dash away yelling for the guard I would think...0 -

But in my headcanon, there are no children being born because no one is getting pregnant. The soulburst screwed up the dreamsleeve and cycle of reincarnation, making it so no new souls can enter the world.
All the children at the time of the soulburst have grown up to adulthood, or died from the knhatan flu prior to the game. Maybe others have succumbed to some form of soul sickness.
But it has left the people of tamriel traumatized and scarred, to the point that they just choose to pretend it didnt happen, that they never had a child and shhh you shouldnt talk about it. It hurts too much. Some have cracked, and still see their adult children as infants and toddlers. Some ignore it and try not to think about it.
But everyone remembers it, everyone remembers what the sound of children laughing and playing sounds like. Everyone remembers why they have that empty crib, why they have that ratty old doll with the silly button eyes.1 -

Seemingly mostly because videogames are not film/tv.
They're absolutely not useless. They were some of the most memorable characters in the Witcher 3 (see: kids in the bog; and also listen to the songs random kids sing, they foreshadow something).
