I've never seen that, needless to say that is pretty shameful.

The only situation where I could conceive of charging or paying for a dungeon drop to be okay is in the event of an ultra rare drop- netch sharp lightning staff, viper sharp dagger, something like that.

Those items are so incredibly rare, and so valued, that charging becomes appropriate behavior with them, as does offering gold for it.

(I realize those items were BiS last patch but you get my point...)

Tiny bit petty. Also prevents you from asking for sth that others may not know you need.

That said, I always ask at the beginning for what I need and what anyone else wants.

If you use the loot spy addon you should offer gold for the gear as its seen as a bit rude, the other guy might want it for future use too but might pass it on for some gold.

Unless I need the item in question or wish to keep it for future, I have given everything away for free in dungeons if something drops that others need. I really don't see the point in charging 1000's for something that will either become vendor trash or decon trash. For me personally, it's bordering on being spiteful asking say 5k for BoP gear that you'll get 89g for tops and can't do much else with it. 5k is being kind to these type of people as I've ran dungeons with randoms that wanted 100k for a piece of gear and when he was offered only 20k by the person who wanted it, he said he would rather sell it to a vendor. I dont get really why would anybody care about giving someone a piece of set for free anyway, its not like you could sell it for hundreds of gold, what does that make any difference if you give it or sell it at merchant? none.

Motifs are different imo. They have an open world value and can be put into guild vendors. You basically have a choice if to sell it in group for a profit or put it out there for everyone. With gear and as you yourself will obviously know, it's either a pittance or doing the right thing and giving it to someone who will use it. It's not as if the person you're giving that gear to can screw you over by listing it for a hefty profit in a guild store. Now, if gear was BoE, I'd expect people to pay a premium for that BSW sharp inferno staff because I could sell it for a hefty profit in any guild and it would also mean i wasn't just giving it to some random so s/he can sell it on for a hefty profit.

Don't know about noobs but I gave a guy a divines monster helm once because I ran the dungeon twice in a row and got the same one each time. He was as happy as......

If I have no need for it and someone has said they are looking for it, it's theirs.

I'm perfectly fine with people using that add on to see what loot I got, and I welcome all requests for loot.

By the same token I use it to spy on other people's loot, and will request all pieces that I want.

The game functions better with it, IMHO.

That functionality is in more than just that one addon. Its built into my UI addon, for example.

I made someone a set of training gear from zone chat but forgot to make it clear I was going to need to be payed for it. I supplied the mats (although I got that free from my guildmistress).

When it came time to pay for it.. they said they didn't have any gold, since they had only just started.. I ened up with 2 grain solvent and some goldscale. I guess that is okay.

Really do have to remember to make it clear crafters do need to get payed... or invite them to my guild (who I do make things for free)

I don't think Noobs are greedy, I think people are greedy and will get away with everything they can.

Im new but i will never asked for gear of anyone when doing a dungeon, if it doesn't drop for me then tough i go without simples

I started game coupla month ago got nearly 9 traits researched in a coupla items now, also farmed enough materials to make a couple of juliannos sets an a hundings set then bought an grinded a full plague doctor/green pact n mother sorrow set for a couple of my toons all full divines part fae plague n pact an all purple apart from a few pieces i've managed to gold, an as said i only been playing a coupla month, for me thats freaking fast for a mmo.

No need to beg or even accept handouts in this game, time an patience all u need, cant get that item with that one trait you want? Cmon lets be truthful here 80 to 90% of the playerbase Wouldn't notice the difference let alone actually be in that small percentage bracket of players that would, i could prob go with wrong traits on everything an no feel the difference am that average.

If someone doesn't want to give away or would rather sell a item they legit won then goooo them it's there playtime an there item they can do watever they want with it, oh you need that item an have a addon telling you x player just got it? Tough luck then, either cough up the money there asking or you know "gz man" an move on cause better luck next time.

Really dont know what to make of a addon that tells you wat loot others recieved, seems like a recipe for griefing.

I find it obnoxious too. You don't know what I'm farming for, I could be using my healer to farm for my tank. If it's something I can live without I will link it. If it's something I wanted, I'm going to be quiet about it. Spying on people is a terrible thing to do in my opinion. "You don't even need it your not dk/dps/tank/sorc or whatever they think matches that drop." I have more than one character who does need it.

Not to defend the guy, but maybe you "vets" have way more gold and see no reason to hold the gear in the first place as your stockpile of resources and gold is high enough to have warranted not giving a **** about keeping said items, thus gifting them to the "noob" as charity. But instead of being genuinely nice from your heart you had expectations that were required to be met upon to fund said gifting of items from your beloved and precious backpack(s). Expectations of which were apparently not met, basically turning you from Santa Claus into an all nat-u-raal hater. It's the sports drink that keeps on giving even when Santa's on vacation

Being nice is one thing, being nice and expecting people to bow at your presence is another.
Though if it was the same guy asking for 2K after receiving all the free items....he's kind of an arse.
So Merry Christmas, you're both just so nice.

thats the thing with ESO. everyone gets loot. for those who didnt play wow, you'd get a RNG and you'd pick need or greed. needs had priority. generally the unwritten rules were you could only need if THIS toon needed it, not an alt. otherwise you greed. and if nobody needed, you all had a chance at greed. but there was only 1 of the item.
theres really no need for people to get shirty in here when they got a drop. if they really want your drop and you dont, i think a swap should be in order.

the amount of people in wow who rolled need for stuff they didnt need, well, that really showed how greedy some people were. you're a tank, why are you rolling need on dps gear? 'oh i want to dps later, or its for my alt. occasionally you'd find some of those drops on the auction house later too. oh and the best one - oops, i hit need accidently. on the last 4 loot rolls.

i dont ask people for cash or items for free. never have, never will. i feel i should, and can, earn my own money and gear. i dont see why others cant too. so to those commenters who said we 'should' give stuff away - dont expect to get anything from me.

I've been playing for about 2 months, got my mag dk to CP182 and yes, I am broke. I would never dream of asking another player for something for nothing. We're not all like that. Your crappy attitude is a major reason for why I haven't bothered to reach out to anyone to do dungeons with. Haven't done a one. Had enough of that garbage in GW2. Hope I never run into anyone in game with your attitude. You need to lose it. Its not good for the game.

I wouldn't believe everything I read on this forum... most of the PUG's I've done have been a good experience...met some really nice people...although everybody sooner or later will get the tank who is bow light attack spamming once in a while, but not as common as some would lead you to believe on these forums...

I've run hundreds upon hundreds of dungeons.

Sometimes people never talk. The group just assumes that they don't speak English. That's what would likely happen with you.

Not even the most toxic player would kick you because you aren't talking in chat....

I wouldn't believe everything I read on this forum... most of the PUG's I've done have been a good experience...met some really nice people...although everybody sooner or later will get the tank who is bow light attack spamming once in a while, but not as common as some would lead you to believe on these forums...

Yeah, I've pugged Vet Cradle of Shadows, and while I wouldn't expect to get a no death or timer achievement, it's rare that we don't finish. And I'm speaking of before Horns made it easier. You can always get a bad PUG, but in my experience it's the exception rather than the norm.
