Can Zenimax get anything right? Armor damage..

Alpha83
Alpha83
I kid you not, you cannot make this stuff up. I run Infalliable Aether on my mag sorc, and one of my pieces was damaged (broken). This is when I realized that one of my 5-piece set bonuses wasn't working (bonus crit) and one of them WAS working (major vulnerability). I mean... which is it? There are only two outcomes here that make any logical sense: EITHER both 5-piece set bonuses work or do not work.

And before Zeni or anyone else says 'working as intended' ... no. Just no. I'm so tired of bugs being labeled as 'working as intended'. Just admit your incompetence, fix it, and move on.

I've been playing this game since launch -- this game has so much potential. But time and time again, what is holding this game back is Zenimax. They just can't seem to get anything right. This begins with them absolutely refusing to admit their mistakes, and stubbornly sticking by them with 'working as intended' explanations. Who knows, maybe they don't care. Maybe the people keeping this game alive don't care about balance or ridiculous bugs that that any grade 11th programmer would catch.

However, I'm starting to see that I can't continue to support this game if they don't start taking things seriously. Bugs matter. PvP balance matters. The separation of PvE and PvP matters, so PvE players don't continue to suffer for the faults of PvP balance. If Zeni can't get these things right after 3 years, then I think I'm going to be done soon.

/end rant.

This seems like a totally insignificant issue... You don't want to run broken armour anyway, so just repair it.

It can't be that? How can you get trial gear without knowing that armor take damage and need repair.
Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.

there are a few tricks when it comes down to armor
    • if you have bonuses from wearing 5 or more pieces of light/medium/heavy armor, any bonuses based on the type you wear disappear one by one with each piece that loses all of its armor rating, one example is when one of your pieces of heavy armor loses all of its durability, it is immediately noticeable as maximum health drops by a bit since heavy armor grants a max health bonus based on how many pieces you wear.
    • Champion skills that grant physical resistance when wearing light/medium/heavy armor is also affected, for example, while wearing 7 pieces of heavy armor, if two of them lose their durability, you will still retain the effect since the other five pieces are still in audible condition, but when three out of the seven heavy armor pieces goes down, you lose the effect of the heavy armor focus champion skill.
    • these physics can apply to some (but maybe not all) armor sets, check each armor piece & see which one grants what effect & see if it needs repairs.
    • Important: if you are switching between two weapon bars, it can have a detrimental effect on your play style, trust me, other people will tell you of similar topics, an easy way to benefit both sets or even three sets is to make sure you have three pieces of droppable set Jewellery & any two pieces of set armor with the right traits (Excluding helmets & shoulders) for the first set, make sure the second set is a craftable one as craftable sets allow for more weapon flexibility, (if using a restoration/destruction staff, a bow or a two-handed weapon, make sure you craft a helmet or shoulder to accommodate for the set as you will only benefit from two sets with those) you can craft two one-handed weapons or go for one-hand & shield & any three pieces of armor for the second set & thus, if done correctly, you will have room for the head & shoulder slots for a monster set from which monster helmets can be found in veteran group dungeons while monster shoulders can be found in the undaunted chests using an undaunted key collected from completing undaunted pledges.

if these answers do not satisfy you, I will leave it up to the ZOS team to close this thread accordingly.
If you see me anywhere. Know that I am sitting back with a bag of popcorn, watching as ESO burns the goodwill of its player base with practices that only disrespects the players time like it did to me and many others...

If a game does not respect your time, best thing to do is move on from it and find something else.

if you end up leaving the game, send me your items and gold.

Ehehe i domt know that set issue but i totally agree about balancing part. I was using black rose set not it gives 90 magicka 90 stamina as 5th set piece and can only bought with telvar stones. its nerfed to oblivion because people were qq about it and thats what zos calls "balancing"

You're absolutely right that this specific issue is totally insignificant. It really doesn't affect my gameplay that one of my 5-piece set bonuses works and the other doesn't work. It's just a blatantly obvious inconsistency that should be caught before it goes live. This is a symptom of the lack of attention to detail on this game.

My point is more than if Zenimax can't catch these small bugs after all these years, how can we trust them to fix the bigger issues?

PvE players have been suffering constant nerfs/changes because Zenimax can't balance PvP. And PvP balance matters a lot too, and still hasn't been achieved. It just seems that they literally don't care. And if they don't care enough to make their game better, then I shouldn't care enough to play it.

This combo is beautiful. I want to believe it was intentional, but I know otherwise.

Okay, I don't know what happened, but I can hazard a guess:

When you equip each piece of gear the game "remembers" it. So, if you equip the first piece, it remembers that was the first one, the second piece, it remembers and says, "yeah, this piece has a 2pc set bonus that's active now." But, under the hood it's attached to that piece. You put on your third, fourth and fifth pieces, and the game's happy.

If you unequip one, it pulls that off the list, and shuffles the other bonuses around.

However, if one piece breaks, all of the bonuses that come from that piece shut down until it's repaired. Which would result in you losing one of your set bonus modifiers. But, not losing the final modifier, unless that is the fifth piece you equipped.

This, might go a long way towards explaining that old, TBS bug, where you could keep the 5pc bonus, if you performed a specific step while dead.
