What is going on?

PTS is for public testing. The point is to test the purposed content for the live server and some of them subject to change if anything went on unfavorable side during the testing. I think that explains a lot about not only itemization changes but also HoF mechs/difficulties changes you mentioned in the original post.
    My advices are:

Don't pre-grind based on a PTS derived build. Alcast ain't no God or the accurate representation of what will be on live.
    Nothing rocket science here.

Yes, pts is for testing, but everyone seem to forget the TRUE reason behind the pts.

The pts is there to IMPROVE the game by changing some things.

Afterall what's the point of testing something if they will not improve it, or even worse, improve it, and then ruin it, [snip]

Why should you change something if it works well? Is it just because zos thinks that they are always right? is it because they always think that their ideas ate always the best ones?

I think not, judging by the previous patch notes.

This is why many feel like this, why should i even bother, if they reverse all the good changes, and make them bad?

    [snip]

I saw some eso streams, and for someone that developed this game it seems that they are pretty bad at it, now this could seem unimportant, but i say, if you developed the game, you should test it 24/7, that should automatically make you a good player at the game, also as developers, they have all the resources to be great at bringing out the potential of the classes, afterall, they developed it.

    [snip]

So what's best, create a good game where players can spend hours without getting bored, and your population continues to increase, as veteran stay, and new players join, and you build the reputation of having made a good game?

Or is it better to make a quick buck by making a decent game, where people get bored pretty quickly, and leave, then new players come in, and the cycle repeats until your games has a bad reputation?

...im just tired of over 5 [snip] months of doing pledges getting keys opening the same damm chest and only getting troll king ice heart and other crap i don't need and i got like 2 or 3 of drop of illambras in crap trait and 2 or so of Infernal Guardian in crap trait i mean COME ON HOW HARD IS IT TO GET IN DIVINES !!!

TOKENS TOKENS DAMM TOKENS i dont care if its 100 keys i will be happy with that as long as i know i will get the damm shoulder piece i need

The problem with that is that all of the sets don't have equal drop rates within the chests.

Every set should have an equal chance to one another. I have spent hundreds and hundreds of keys on that very chest, and can say it is heavily weighted towards ice heart, troll king etc etc AKA the ones that weren't in as high demand last patch.

That isn't right all sets should have an equal chance, regardless of how much people want them.

Glad and Sad to see im not the only one with this fricken problem and you are right RNG my gluteus maximus ! its painfull when you open the same chest 8 times and 6 of them are troll king.. its like really.. really

Funny Birch you run one of the first raiding guilds I joined. Ended up not speaking w/ you personally much since the raids you ran started a bit before I get home but for the record I liked the guild and the only reason that I'm not in it anymore is because you removed me along with about 200 people for having a discord name that didn't match my @ name in game...funny thing is mine did but I assume it was an honest mistake. I did enjoy the discord memes and conversations and would have sent you a ping about getting invited again but ended up joining another guild with times that worked better for me and ultimately getting picked to run raids in that guild for a bit so wanted to focus on that.

Anyway at this point just wanted to say I agree with just about everything you said in this post. At this point it seems like the game will still be ok for casual players and also people that can devote 30+ hours a week to it but for players like me that are somewhere in the middle and have a full time job but still found the time to grind BIS gear it just seems like a never ending grind for no reason that keeps getting worse with every patch.

The sad thing is the PTS actually had me really excited. I did spend some time getting precise versions of the weapons I was already using (fail), finally got a full TFS set w/ gold jewelry a couple of weeks ago and feel like they waited until the last minute to make those changes to avoid losing anyone that may have not purchased the expansion after reading them. Could be wrong but just a hunch.

So between that, the sharpened grind that took months and ended up getting me a few weeks of good trial time in as a reward, and the overall general and constant feeling that I'm getting screwed over because of issues with PVP (which I only did enough to get caltrops on my main) I think I'm going to take another break from this game. Not sure if I'll be back and I'm not going to post a rage quit thread or anything but have decided to pledge money to a game in alpha and am actually downloading it right now as I type....might come back to this one (again) but for now hopefully flying a spaceship will be a nice change and I won't feel like all the time it took to test the game and provide feedback will go completely ignored.

    Hey there,
We had to remove several posts from this thread as they were off topic and baiting. In the future before making posts make sure they are civil, constructive, and contribute to the discussion.
    Thanks,

Buhhhh! How do you expect the community to be constructive if you give us always a new reason (usually a big one) to get frustrated?
Please dont make a statement that you removed posts or whatever but rather give us a insight why you did what you did. The way you are doing it, it seems like no one got an idea why or how you are comming up with these hard chnages that are untested and do not make any sense to the community.

I really liked this patch. I still dont know what's BiS. I like that ... being able to choose sets based on my playstyle rather than the hard numbers.

I think there's still some class balance issues at play. The warden heal ult is too low cost and spammable... stam DKs that aren't built for tanking dont really have a purpose, and ones that are built that way are still unkillable... sorcs are too good 1v1 and too underpowered 1vX... nightblades can vanish indefinitely giving them an easy out... lotta class balance issues.

But im glad the items and the mundus stones are pretty well balanced.

ZOS does not want your feedback.

They dont want your criticism, they dont want your hate, they want you to adapt to they''re changes or leave.

Only way to get progress is to impact them financially.

ZOS has next to zero understanding of what they're doing half the time. This isn't news.

But you are all experts in game design I gather? There is a reason why these "theorycrafters" are playing the games and not working for the game companies.

No we might not be. But holy moly, does this game have a lot of problems or what?

    I agree with OP a 99.9%
    Thanks for the Post OP

ZOS balance and combat team need to be changed. this clumsy swinging wild and left every 4 months is hopeless. combat balance needs to happen live- as we go- constantly. they made the analogy of golf once on live- how they took big swings so they could get closer to the pin- well following from that analogy- its going to take them 6 years to finish a bloody round here and make this game balanced. if this game is ever going to meet its potential they need to have constant tweaks- i mean what do these guys do all day? seriously? if I'm them- i kick out wrobel - hire alcast, gilliam and some oft he maths geniuses that have been posting ehre- and a few others who clearly know their game better than they do. moments after they posted the last changes - those content makers posted torugs pacts flaws in videos. the community know the game better than they do- thats often the case. lebron james knows basketball better than the guy who invented it. the difference is that other games listen to their community.

oh and lag is still an issue for us in australia. broken ass servers and routes.

You want to know how you make the game good?

This is it right here. Hire the people who know most about the game, who also play it.

This would be the most effective possible way to maximize the potential of the game.

This won't happen because it is ZOS 'admitting defeat' in one way or another, but there is no better way to improve the game at this point.

PTS means public TEST server. The last iteration of the PTS should be what goes live with minor bug fixes included. The reason being it's been TESTED. When you make sweeping changes and push it live you get what we get every major patch, unexpected downtime, major bugs, and issues galore (OH MY!). If ZoS wants to make changes, by all means, have at it. It's your game but why even do a PTS when a lot of the changes that go live were never tested AT ALL.

Next we have hard release dates for content. How can you expect to handle any potential issues/bugs if you are making changes up to and including the live release. Make these dates a little more fluid and make sure you are releasing a product that is functional. Minor issues are one thing but having entire instances and mechanics broken beyond belief is insane.

Also I would like to touch on the atrocious PTS participation. If you would simply listen and actually read the bug reports maybe people would be willing to spend the time testing your product. As it stands now, it's a HUGE waste of time where feedback and bug reports are largely ignored. By all means though, let's adjust the lighting level on this candle. The Falkreath dungeon no death cheeves was busted and reported week one PTS and guess what? Still broke

OK, I don't do as much in the PTS as i would like due to the fact, when i have been in there and sent off the bug i have came across, thinking that there are still way too many bugs for it to go live in XX days, and yet xx days later it goes live. Sure i will still go in and send a few off but i do it more to see how bad the game is going to be after going live, with my favorite " In response to the ongoing issue, the North American PC/Mac megaserver is currently unavailable while we perform maintenance."
life? life's pretty much a knife fight in a dirt-floored bar. and if they get you down, you best get back up. you can't outrun death forever, but you can make the *** work for it.
