Text chat and its dysfunction XboxOne

Please, please, please give us a text chat filter, mute and block function on console text chat. I want to be able to turn off zone and block these ignorant, immature no life souls that can't talk like civilized adults. It may be a mature rated game, but we still don't have to look at foul language, threats, racism, sexual remarks and heated arguments etc. I don't feel we should have to drop out of game interface to block from the console. It is not microsoft's problem to handle. It is Zos responsibility.

Make a new chat box that only includes what NPCs say. It's the most enjoyable way to play

You do it by hitting that + button to right of the Chat tab.

What plus button? I am on console. It's not there and text chat is extremely limited for us.

Shoot, sorry about that. I didn't see the Xbox in the header. I just did a quick look, but don't see a way to do what I describe on an Xbox. I feel your pain, though.

Would be pretty nice, kinda annoying to talk in group chat when you have 3 messages showing in the window and zone chat is being spammed with stupid items while guilds may also be talking.

I'm on Xbox and I have text chat on. I find it useful sometimes, plus other times the convos on there are quite interesting - and people do ask questions occasionally, so it's nice to be able to help out.

You do get them annoying people on there too, but this is the internet, and unfortunately it's an unavoidable aspect of it.

But there have been the odd the occasion where I've temporarily turned text chat off, because the language is horrible. I'm not talking about swear words and the like - but the sort of insults that would get them banned immediately on this site.

Text chat was only going to be this way, and it's annoying. Muting by guild would also be good.

Personally I don't get why MMO folk are so adverse to using a Mic instead

even though i feel like the OP is extremely making this a bigger deal than it really is, the options for chat wouldnt be a bad addition.

there is the occasional idiot fest but tbh it is far more peaceful than when voice chat was the only way to communicate. most vulgar language is bleeped out with stars and its not like text is unavoidable. its in the bottom right of your screen and comes and goes with activity. not that big a deal, but im definitely not opposed to chat options.

Not trying to make a big deal out if this. What is a big deal is that Zos is too lazy to add a simple function as block or disable certain chats. This should be standard.

Filters for chat would be cool. It can get annoying having to go through entire text logs from all chats together just to find one thing. Also at times I just want to mute guild or zone chat.

Another thing I've noticed that I would like fixed is being able to use the /tell command with people who are not in one of your guilds or on your friends list. It's annoying having to go in to the chat, highlight the message, bring up a menu, and then select whisper. Just being able to /tell *insert name here* would be fantastic. Another cool addition would be to see when friends get online, and get offline. I believe PC has that, right?

Hard to use a mic when trying to reach someone on the other side of the zone...

Mic has its place like pvp and trial group zones but txt chat is 100x better for selling getting an answer from the whole zone. Also guild voice chats are so flooded with people over talking each other it's nice to just use txt chat and get an answer. Nothing is worst and more annoying then saying "what" "I can't hear you" can you repeat that" "guys clear coms I need to hear him"

Point being txt chat and voice chat both have their place none better then the other and both needed. Xb1 was so hard to get a group together trying to use voice chat only, now grouping for me is so much better.

I agree we need filters for txt chat. Nothing annoys me, don't care about rude language are mean things I have thick skin. What I do care about is sometimes I get confused when multiple guilds are talking and the box is moving too fast. Would be nice to "mute" a guild that way I could focus on just the guild talking or just zone chat.
