Useful Armour Sets: Pre-Horns Edition v2

This is really more of a resource for me and my small army of Alts but I thought it would be good to keep track somewhere of what is considered to be useful armour sets. This will not include Monster Sets or VMA weapons but just standard armour sets. I also wanted to keep the list a little open and not just have the single BiS gear as often that requires trials that not everyone does or DLCs that not everyone owns. Also what is the BiS is really unclear now as what was on the PTS is not on Live and things are really confused.

I also like to include at least two crafted set on each list as I really hate grinding for gear and being able to just craft the weapons with the traits that you need is much better than having to run a dungeon dozens of times to try and get the right trait. I also much prefer to just give crafted gear to any low level alts rather than trying to find them sets of the right level.
My plan is to organise this into four categories. Tanks, Heals, Magica DPS and Stamina DPS.

I would LOVE lots of feedback as this is all pre-Horns data and I am sure things are changing a great deal now.

Why do people keep calling green pact and plague doctor BIS? It never was. People used them for the new trials to shield and for a buffer for learning the trials. Not having a good at you, everyone still thinks those sets are a must for tanking. Neither are.

Ebon always has been bis. Alkosh should be on the list too.

Nobody runs whitestrake or histbark anymore I don't think. Sets like alteration mastery and seducer are a lot more useful. Even tavas.

I'd remove. viper, lich and bone pirate too. You lose too much damage with lich and bone pirate and viper was never good in Pve. Infector too actually.

You left out Tavas and Dragon for tanks.

Vipers isn't even close to being BiS.

To be honest, slapping a "BiS" tag on things really isn't your best bet, especially for dps. The reason is that in HotR, many dps sets perform better and worse compared to others in different scenarios.

Thanks for the feedback. Alcast was certainly pushing Green Pact and Plague Doctor. I will add Alkosh that is a great idea. Whitestrake and Histbark I will leave in as I like to have two crafted sets for each role for levelling toons even if they are not used at CP160. I have seen a lot of people running Viper and Bone Pirate but I will put a star next to Lich and Infector.

Agree, nice for zerg support,
you want an sustain set so I say seducer is best of the crafted.

Healer res if smooth fight but some died on boss mechanic. If hard fight DD res. Trial dd res,

Another factor is that you wear two sets, they should complement each other.

Also ease to get set you want, overland jewelry is easy to get, crafted set don't have jewelry, trial set require you to do them on vet for purple,

Good work. I knew as soon as I seen this there would be disagreements, but they are useful and very popular. Hope you update it HotR. Maybe separate into pve and pvp groups.

Thanks, I will remove the BiS from Vipers. I haven't seen many tanks wearing Tavas or Dragon recently but I will stay open on them and if more people suggest them I will add them to the list.

I would love to be able to do that but to be honest I am not much of a PvP player so that is best left to someone else. I haven't played a second of PvP since the double AP event ended.

healing scales from max magic, spell critical and spell damage just like damage skills, so you can go with julianus. its a good all round set that will also help you if you are still running quests, and will strengthen any damage skills you have equipped. slotting 1 or 2 damage skills on a healer for a dundgeon is a good idea also lighting wall of elements is expected from the healers in trials (or at least it used to be - new update hasnt hit console yet)

however sustain is important on a healer so seducer is a good set solid set and is easy to craft (3 or 4 traits)

Normal trials is easy to pug, because of the large group its also pretty easy to farm sets.

Regarding healing sets, Prayer shawl, 6% chance for an 2350 shield for 6 seconds sounds idiotic weak compared to combat physician with an 8195 shield for 8, proc on crit every 6 sec. Or have I misunderstood something
Both are from easy dungeons
