Spell Critical Question

According to the wiki, critical magnitude in ESO is 50%, which means spell critical and weapon critical are probably the most important stats. Doesn't this mean every caster and every healer should be running the Mother's Sorrow set, which adds a ton of crit? This seems even better than the +12% heal from Sanctuary and +8% heal from healer sets. How much crit should I go for on my healer? I'm at 58% right now.

GeminiImpact✭✭✭This is a complicated question... kind of.
The basic answer is this:
Spell Crit and Weapon Crit are important values if you are running a Damage build, however for healers, you really want to focus more on regen because you're throwing out skills all the time.
Healers in this game, as well as tanks, focus on sets that give them the utility they need for themselves whilst also providing something for the group.
Healers in PvE generally run Spell Power Cure paired with another set such as Mending, Worm, Sanctuary, etc.
Tanks on the other hand will run sets that give more penetration or other buffs to the group, such as Ebon, Alkosh or Utility Sets that help them get their ults faster so that they have better Warhorn up times.
I haven't explained every set that each CAN run in different situations but wanted to give you a general idea of what both healers and tanks run instead of crit in PvE.

✭✭✭✭You seem to be confusing "crit hit chance" and "crit hit damage". Crut chance is the amount of times you will, on average, crit, this can be higher or lower depending on your luck and length of the fight. This has a base of 10% chance.
Crit hit damage is how much damage you do WHEN you crit, this has a base of 50% increase and can be increased by only a few things, namely nightblade and Templar passives, 10% increase. Champion points, up to 25% increase. Major and minor force, 15 and 10% Respectively. To a Max of 210% CHD.
The reason you don't want to go all out with crit is with 1.5 times crap is still crap. You need a good balance of stats to be effective in your role. I take it you mean one can buff crit magnitude to +100% (or 110%) damage / healing, which is all the more reason to stack crit. I would be much more interested in knowing whether or not there is a soft cap for crit chance, where diminishing returns really kick in. For the most part you want to aim for around 60-70% crit0 -
Dasovaruilos✭✭✭✭✭When talking about healing, consistency and reliability is way more important than even stronger heals.
A properly set healer will already have crazy 20k Breath of Lifes that are more than any DPS health bar and 6-7k Springs ticks. And will heal most tanks almost to full health if they are specced into Healing Received, which they should.
So, in essence, as a general rule, you do not need more heals in ESO. It is very, very easy to overheal by a lot. You need reliable and consistent heals.
Can you imagine a group wiping because your tanking was taking a hard hit and you got bad RNG and didn't crit for 3x straight?
Much better to spec into utility, as others said, giving your group a lot more DPS, than into crit heals, which will be overkill for 99% of the situations. So, that is why most healers invest into a strong, reliable non-crit heal, get enough regen to always have that heal available, and use the gear to provide more DPS to the group.
BTW, I'm only talking about PvE here.0
