Player werewolf bite vs crown store and the quest

I've been leveling a werewolf toon through a bite a guildie was kind enough to give me but it got me wondering. If you do the crown store bite, do you still do the quest or skip the quest phase?

✭you do with the purchased vamp bite, which is sad because you don't get to learn about the "affliction" through the quest.
