    Other? (Explain)
One cannot truly tell if the population goes up or down, as it depends on the minds playing it, everyone has their own interests & likewise, the population cap fluxuates.

ESO, as with a lot of other MMO's yo-yo's a lot. The population rises quite a lot with a new DLC, then it slowly drops as people complete the content and wander away until the next content drop. So right now, its dropped a little since Morrowind came out. However with Horns of the Reach, due out in a couple of weeks, there will be an influx of new and returning players. Then it will slowly fall off until Clockwork City releases around Christmas.

Console might see a bigger fall off as TERA and Destiny 2 release, but even then I would suspect people will return.

I honestly never heard of TERA, but Destiny 2, try again buddy, the first destiny was the biggest failure since halo reach(because halo reach mostly didn't match the halo books themselves.) & the game was mostly full of hackers in trials of Osiris & PVP alltogether & destiny 2 is practically just a coat of paint over the first game, not to mention the ridiculous number of in-game purchases in the first game that really angered people, honestly, you are far better off playing Elder scrolls Online Tamriel Unlimited like you have been, or any other game that takes you fancy.

The in-game crown transactions in ESO I do not mind because at least Bethesda & Zenimax Online put a lot of hard work into the very fabrication of this wonderful game.
If you see me anywhere. Know that I am sitting back with a bag of popcorn, watching as ESO burns the goodwill of its player base with practices that only disrespects the players time like it did to me and many others...

If a game does not respect your time, best thing to do is move on from it and find something else.

As ZOS nerfs the crap out of everything and making it more newb player friendly, ive seen a noticeable decline in veteran players and more new players. The unfortnate part is not a lot of new players will be vet trial ready for a while and not all of them are interested in doing end game content

Older players get sick of the grind and horrible rng while the new players will enjoy it how they like, some will stay, some will go

    Yes, The population has increased...
Population has increased over time based on how I measure. I started in Dec 2015. I've gaged population by how many people I see in the banks. In other words, I've been seeing banks are far more crowded than they use to be. I have never seen the bank population at the level I saw 3-6-12 months ago.

    That is my limited perception.
