What is a Channeled attack? Can it be Melee, can it be Ranged, is it Neither?

I'm pretty lost at this point. Are channelled attacks neither Melee or Ranged attacks, but their own category? Is Melee or Range not a sub-type that can be associated with Channelled abilities?

I think flurry is channeled and melee

Things like radiant are channeled range.

So yes they can be either or

Channeled attacks can be melee and they can be ranged. They can be magic based, they can be stamina based. I believe they are uninterruptable. A channeled attack has more than 1 "base" damage tic. The animation of a channeled attack continues until the number of 'base' damage tics ends (also, you can't animation cancel channeled attacks). Examples of channeled attacks are the lightening staff heavy attack, flurry/morphs, rapid fire/morphs, radiant, soul strike/morphs (may be a few more).
By way of contrast, a DOT has only 1 'base' damage tic, followed by multiple 'secondary' damage tics ... the multiple 'secondary' damage tics = the Damage Over Time.

If the channeled attack is a weapon ability or the lightening staff heavy attack, then they are supposed to be able to be able to proc a weapon enchantment ... but the enchantment should not proc more than 1x per 'channeled attack' (otherwise it would be too OP). I'm not sure whether channeled skills can proc weapon enchantments or not.

When it comes to channeled attacks triggering proc sets ... well ... that's "a story for another day." LOL! (<-- Translation: I don't have the answer to this one).

Also I think the game considers 0-5 meters as "melee" range.

    Can be either.

The channel bit is a type of an attack.

Usually a windup or takes x seconds for the attack to finish.

    E.g. Flare/ snipe/ beam/ flurry/ jabs and sweep/ vamp drain/ soul assault.

    All channels.

Flurry is def not melee, since it doesn't trigger melee procs. I think all channelled abilities are ranged.

If it has a cast time in the tool tip, it is channeled. If it says 'instant' under cast time, it is not.

Don't judge me; I'm not the one that wrote the tooltip lol.

Some abilities are even 8m (jabs, flame lash, etc.)
