DK Tank Builds

I am new to ESO. I came over from WoW where I always preferred tanking. I have done some research but can't seem to find anyone that has good advice on properly building a DK for tanking in trials for either pre level 50 or at level 50. Does anyone have any recommendations for where this can be researched?

Trials are post 160 for normals, and 300+ for vets. Can't do a trial until you go through the levels, get into champion levels and get to 160 for normals at the very, very least. So of you're on the forums, Google or YouTube looking for it, you're not going to find it

Also, most will just put up their level, race, class and ask what they should focus or gear towards for a certain playstye so they don't waste money or time. You can start with that, and maybe someone will post and help. I'm a 630 Magicka DK tank, and can literally give you multiple trial, dungeon, and solo tips, but I'd need the info about to help you with it.

Good luck. These forums might be cruel at times, but very, very informative and almost always truth. You'll be surprised what you can learn here.

    Post up, have fun.
.... I have to admit, the devs do listen to reason, if not to the forums. Thank you for "nameplates", a welcome addition to immersion, as well as the text chat box for PS4, which only comes on the screen when I need it too, and helps this gameplay SO MUCH MORE then without it. THANK YOU for the additions. Very much appreciated.

Thank you very much for the information. I will just continue to level for now and worry about a proper build at a future time. But will definitely keep your offer of advice on the burner for when I am ready to really build a tank

    Sounds great.

    * For now, all heavy armor and 1 or 2 medium to level it up is what you want. Most tanks use an armor set at endgame called Tavas, which gives you ultimate when you dodge an attack, and the medium armor skills tree has a skill that increases your dodge chance. Most have that medium armor skill on one of their bars, even if you don't have medium armor on. But you need to level it, so do it now while you're grinding.

    * If you are a quester, you should try out all possible skills in all class and weapon skill trees and level them all up. Even if you think you won't use it, level it. At endgame, some skill you never, ever used, are situational and you actually use them for that trial. Nothing hurts more when someone says "you have this skill right", and you don't.

    * only the skills on the bar you have up get experience. So before you turn in a quest for exp, really quick swap out the skills you need to level up and then turn in the quest so those skills can gain levels even if you didn't use them while fighting or questing.

    * don't fall into the dps trap. Tanking quests is slow, but everything you do now, will help you be a better tank later. Learn how to run into a room, manage your resources, survive and pick them apart one by one. If you use dps moves now, when the time comes in a dungeon to take on 7 guys at once, you won't know how or what skills to use. At the same token, don't JUST use tank moves either. Remember, level everything, learn and grow. Grinding to 160 has to be a learning experience for a tank.

    * HAVE FUN. Although we can give you advice, give you opinions on what skills to use, and tell you what the best tanks wear, this game is NOT cookie cutter. The possibilities are endless. Don't let someone tell you you're doing it wrong. Forget them. If you beat the dungeon, and no one died, you helped buff the dps, helped the healer by not taking crazy damage, and did so in a reasonable time..... you did your job. Winning is winning. There is no certain way to win. It's skill at the end of the day. Now, PvP is a completely different story, lol. I'll let the PvP'ers explain, lol.

Thank you very much for all that information I have cut and past it to my tablet for while a play so I have a reminder. Luckily PvP will never be an issue for me as I never enjoyed it much. I will get back to you when I start earning some champron points
