Fix the disguises, please.

Decided to try out a disguise as a Vampire today. It's cool, but why does the crown store hairstyle change back to normal? Makes no sense. That can't have been an intentional design.

On a list of important things, this is naturally pretty low, but I don't get why that's even happening.

I remember disguises doing this from day one, since launch. Disguises are ultimately inferior because if you die while wearing a disguise, you lose it forever.

Disguises are intended to have different effects with some making more severe changes than others. They are not intended to be costumes in disguise. Some will changes hair and other aspects each time one zones or logs (unless they changed that since launch).

Really? Well that's stupid. I always tell people that don't like the vamp look to wear one, but if you can't keep it, then I suppose it's not a very good alternative.

I tried to put on a crown store purchased hat with the free crown crate monocular device and it doesn't work. Disguises aside, any of the appearance items you check mark should appear together. Not sure why this is not the case.

Yeah. Unless something stealth changed, that's how disguises work. You should find a good Costume instead. There have been some decent ranger-like costumes brought to the game that might please you:

Normally, you lose the disguise on the first hit from a mob the disguise is keeping you hidden from, not the death.

But using a disguise away from those mobs, it stays on. Or, maybe I never die....
Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

PakKat "Everything was going well, until I died"
Gary Gravestink "I am glad you died, I needed the help"

That may be true, I never wanted to take the risk. It's easily proven though. OP, try dying somewhere outside of the zone that quest existed and see if you keep the disguise. If you do, then NICE!

I don't believe it disappears if you die while not in the area with the associated quest, unless I too have somehow managed to never die while wearing the various disguises I've kept over the years. And considering that I've done trials regularly, I don't believe that's the case.

I did one time die during a game crash while I was in Auridon, and when I came back and rezzed the disguise was gone. I of course freaked out about that, but when I relogged the disguise was back in my inventory.

It's actuall by design but you lose the disguise if you enter combat within the quest area it's designed for (sometimes it glitches and is lost outside of that area). Essentially take any damage within that quest area and it's destroyed and have to look for another, if one wants another.

Basically you should be safe keeping the disguise when used outside of the intended questing area.

It's also worth noting that with a few exceptions, most disguises can be re-obtained by looting baskets or killing enemies in the associated quest area. You can even stock up on multiples as long as you keep them on separate characters. So in most cases it's not the end of the world even if you did lose a disguise in combat.
