How would you grade Zos on the Midyear Mayhem event?
As a person that is not very fond of pvp I give it a B. The double ap is what really saved it for me. The drops rates on the "good" stuff was too low for my liking, and I wish the gear that I earned had more uses.
I was able to get vigor on my new sorc and caltrops on my nightblade in very little time so that is awesome. Of course I didn't realize til after the event that I forgot to get barrier on my main.
I'm on xbox and routinely crash and lag quite a bit so I really didn't notice any extra problems. I also didn't try to get into any of the popular campaigns so I never had to wait long.
I also discovered that I really don't like Imperial City.
I would pvp more if there were more double ap events.
While i gave them a C that is still 70%. The event was a brilliant idea that brought a huge influx of new and returning players to the game. However, they sorely missed their mark on the experience all those new and returning players went through throughout the event. With server lag disconnects and just overall broken builds in pvp im sure that a lot of them came out with a sour taste in their mouth. That being said the event brought a lot of fun and when it was good it was great! I had some of the best times through this week.
If ZOS would focus the majority of their resources on game balance and server stability then they will surely have a game people will come back to and stick with for years. Normally saying things like game balance and server stability seems like a tall order, and it definitely is, but when you have a game that claims to be as successful as they do and claim to be a triple A game then those expectations become more concrete and warranted.

Fail because IC DLC that players paid twice to play was unplayable due to massive queues. Lag was unreal.
Campaign started with a 2/3 day overlap to Sotha Sil ending. So for the 27 days of PvP grind for some players, was wiped out in those 3 days of 100%+20% AP gained for the players who could get into Sotha without queuing for ~3 Hours )
Closing 3 PvP campaigns before this Event was no foresight or awareness. Opening 3 for Midyear Madness late, after players dictating they were needed just impacts the original mistake of closing them down in the first place.
Didnt see 1 player ask for EbonyBlade, SpellBreaker and Haderus to be closed down, yet ZoS closes these down so service gets worse for the customer yet the cost stays the same. No reason given and definitely no performance gained on the remaining PvP campaigns.
Literally everything that ZoS touches they are breaking. Only ones deserve my respect/thanks are Art/Design, Voice overs because i have experienced them to be solid and immersive.
For me personally, it was a chance to get double AP and improve a number of characters. It also got me interested in PvP and improving myself. The gift boxes were an additional incentive. I hope to see more PvP events like this! My only regret is due to real life constraints, I started the event 4 days late.
Pros
1. Cyrodiil was really active, and there were even a few people in Imperial City
2. They created 2 new campaigns to help meet demand. While this was a reactionary measure, it was nice that they identified an issue and took steps to correct it.
Cons
1. This event wasn't very creative, and aside from the gift boxes and AP boost, there really wasn't anything to it. Even a simple faction-specific pvp quest would have been nice.
2. Poor planning: How could they have not foreseen that demand would spike, necessitating the two new campaigns? I can understand not adding 2 right off the bat, since you need to gauge participation, but even adding just one additional campaign up front would have been a good idea and apparent up front.
3. Really demonstrated the problems lurking behind the scenes in this game, and in an event that was luring new players to PVP. I've now played with several people who's sole experience with PVP in ESO is a lagging, bug-filled mess of disconnections. The changes of them coming back to PVP after this event are probably pretty low.
4. How are you going to have an event like this, but not fix the issues with group finder, chat, and the grouping tool first?
I got back into PVP (after a long time away) and started Battlegrounds. I think there should have been something substantial worth farming for besides the book, AP and gold rings - maybe another motif or something (PVP home?).
Maybe the requirements could have been increased for the achievement. I had 50 kills while still wading into the PVP changes. Maybe increase it 1000+ touches for the healers and tanks who complained about kills.
The first day of the event kind of sucked as I was trying to log into a full server. Adding campaigns helped a lot and I don't know why others didn't take advantage of them.
I participated only for the new hat. I would have liked a new motif. I gained some XP in Alliance war skill, though, which is nice.

Would have liked double Tel Var too. The last time ZOS did that it felt like a hit, and having a reason to pvp in IC again was great. Not sure why they didn't work that into this pvp event.
My memory on this could be flawed but I seem to remember that last year's double AP was not an official event and ZoS had not intended to do anything this year (or even thought about it) until players asked during the jester event.
If my memory is right, I give them an A. If not, a B. DDOS attacks can be complicated and sometimes special measures are required. I'll give them a pass on server performance. Not stellar response but not bad either.
Solid C. The idea was there but the execution was shaky. Pvp event is good but they seemed un prepared for the amount of people that joined the event. Fix lag and crashing issues and try again. Add in mitigated damage achievement and healing done achievement when in combat with enemy players
It coulda been better, and they really should have compensated the many server issues and bugs by extending the event. Otherwise, it was fun and really got people to pvp more. It's certainly a part of the game that needs more love in general, since every other event we've had so far were pve.

Good Idea, OK rewards, Overall OK. But it seems the turnout was greater than expected causing problems, on top of already existing issues. Personally, had way too many crashes, infinite load times and horrendous lag to grade better than a "C."
B --
I give it 2 minuses cause of the server performance which they could have easily avoided and chose to only do something once we complained.
But overall i had a lot of fun and got the title. I discovered i realy enjoy battlegrounds and would like to see more events like these. But only if they compensate for increased server traffic ahead of time.
Everyone knew and knows the server and lag in cyrodiil is a problem. Its been up and down over the last few years but ZOS went ahead and had the event and pushed it. The results were undeniable, many reports of CTD, load screens, unplayable lag.
Why would you have an event that creates the conditions particularly when you know the server has issues? Either they didnt care, cant fix it anyway or are trolling.
Im assuming its "cant fix it anyway" so they get a D. Never should have had the event.
Obviously the servers were a huge problem during the event and disconnects were fairly frequent. That being said, I wouldn't necessarily say that should be a knock against "the event." Rather, it is a knock against the servers in general (which frankly is a much more worse issue). But the actual event itself I think was well planned and implemented. Double AP was great, getting the Pelinal's Boxes added some worthwhile rewards for a change, the achievement was fairly easy to get but got people involved in all areas of PVP, and ZOS was prompt to add new campaigns when needed. I am almost exclusively a PVPer so I am a bit biased but bravo to whomever conceived of and implemented the event. It isn't their fault the servers suck and need to be upgraded - and they do need to be upgraded in some way because currently even going near a large keep fight seems super risky because of the frequency of disconnects.
Servers a mess, queue time a mess and didnt even add more time....instead added more servers that we werent homed on. Horrible!!! Should prove the fact that we have all been saying........Fix your dam servers......they suck!
