Archers mind provides 15% crit damage on the first snipe but falls to 5% after the first. Marksmen gives you 8% more base damage which pairs well with the already insane boost of clever alch, once you crit its basically 15% more damage anyway and the effect is permanent.
However generally snipe spam from stealth can be predicted and or reacted to (granted there is no lag). Sheer Venom with this combo: Snipe>Heavy att>Poison Inj is very strong because you not only get the big snipe but the mass amount of DoT pressure when your opponent is healing debuffed. If you slot double poisons you can do some mean damage and guarantee a lot of kills that cannot purge/cloak. Its more reliable then say a pure snipe build. Any form of Proc set is still stronger then flat value sets in my opinion for pvp, bypassing global cooldowns abilities have by stacking procs will always be overpowered because of that fact.
On the subject of what to buy from the cryodill vendor right now... buy Marksmen. Hawk Eye is kind of outdated since its an old update 1.6 set. Marksmen reduces the cost off all abilities which includes Vigor/Rally compared to just Bow abilties from Hawk Eye. Marksmen also gives you recovery with 3% more damage then Hawk Eye, so that increase to damage offsets the max stat lose from Hawk Eye but you gain recovery to boot.
Hope this helps.

Great read, thank you! The part where you talk about Sheer Venom combinations has me interested in the Vicecannon set as well. Any thoughts on that set? It would be one extra dot to go with with Snipe>Heavy att>Poison Inj combination. Ideally I'd like to get a Master Bow someday instead of Maelstrom because it seems like a nice combination with the aforementioned sets:
5 pc Sheer Venom
5 pc Vicecannon
1 pc Master Bow

Vicecannon is decent since its unpurgeable but looses value since it requires a stealth crit to use. Its over 15 seconds also.. so meh.
A good snipe build does the following: large burst, high healing debuff, large dot. All this is covered with lethal arrow, befoul cp and poison Inj + sheer venom. I honestly dont think there is a better snipe build then this for overall viability against all targets.
Sheer Venom + Poison Inj will tear people apart just by themselfs..
Its your choice to use a Disease or Poison enchant for more burst and possible status effect or go duel slot poisons. I would personally use a disease enchant.

I kind of wish i could use hundings rage but there is no jewlery crafting. SotA gives similar stats so I went with it.
It is super strange but I actually don't have space on my bar to use poison injection.. its not buffed by SotA so I just droped it.
Grim focus, Magelight, Cloak, Snipe, Vigor. Flawless Dawnbreaker.
I have to double bar the cloak because lag in PVP is too high to bar swap to give myself the cloak crit while snipe is in the air. Snipe is the only damage skill there.
I switch back to 2h if I have to brawl.
I have a Kra'ghs shoulder but I might switch to velidreth if I get one with a better trait. I don't have a maelstrom or master bow (but those are not relevent to my particular build are they?)
work on mage guild skill line to unlock meteor ulti. Throw that on bow bar for an added range attack instead of dawnbreaker, which you can have on 2h bar.

I ask because I'm torn on whether or not to buy Gold Marksman or Hawk's Eye jewelry this week during the event, and I really don't know enough about the precise math concerning which setup would be more advantageous. My current build stacks a lot of weapon damage, but I'm wondering if the bonuses from Marksman and Hawk's Eye would be better.
I'd appreciate any insight. Thanks!
