Other devices chat app

I play eso on Xbox one and each time I text someone I can't help thinking how much better and easier it would be if I could use my phone or tablet instead of tapping it out with the joypad, it would not only be faster and less cumbersome but I could also carry on with what I am doing in-game without missing anything, or even get someone else to type for me, the benifits are endless.
Is there any plans on any such technology coming to eso or if there is any such program already out there that I am missing?

The telephone. When I mean telephone, I mean a Garfield land-line telephone.

On a serious note, doesn't the Xbox sell a texting pad for the controller?

With teammates you can get discord for iPhone at least not sure about android or whatever but probably have it for that as well. Otherwise I think you can download an app to use for phone for typing on Xbox via wifi and yes they do sell a keypad.

It does sell a texting pad but doesn't get rid of the problem of the screen being taken over by a text window that stops all game play.

You can use the xbox one app and use the phone to type messages that way when they pop up. Also you could get the app on a PC and type messages through your keyboard that way too. I believe this might be what you're looking for.

I have tried Xbox one smartglass on both my phone and tablet and neither of them work with eso in-game text chat window, so the only way to text another player is still bringing up the screen that blocks all view and stops game play.
I know you can say "get a mic" but a mic is not needed or wanted in all situations.
Having chat channels on a separate device will also enable copy and paste which would be great for sharing information and item links that can be used in a sentence.

@krullskull there already is an app.... Just have smart glass open, and connected. Open the text window to type on Xbox, big white box appears on phone and you can use the keyboard. Hey Presto.

Oh I see reading your last, you don't want it on screen. I mean how do you intend to type on your phone and play anyway??

You could always type in an email, whilst playing, and just paste it into smart glass. But really I don get quote what you are after u less you have three arms

Using a separate device to text you could still do in-game stuff I.e, fight, travel, craft, refer to, etc and carry on texting an unfinished message in between activities, it's not about having three hands, but more about having a more seamless gaming experience with the added bonus of more text options like cope and paste that would help new and old players with sharing information.

cumbersome is such a weird word

when you hear it out loud it doesn't seem so bad

    but written down or typed

    cumbersome

    so weird

and it gets even weirder the more you look at it

Smartglass doesn't work on Xbox one with elder scrolls online, I have the fully updated version of smartglass on both iphone and iPad and neither of them bring up a text box when texting in-game.
Even if it did work it wouldn't solve the problem of losing game play just to text something because of a text window talking up the whole screen.
But it smartglass did work with eso it would at least be faster to text rather than using the joypad or buying a keyboard.

How do you plan on texting and playing at the same time no matter which interface you use? Your post contradicts itself.

SmartGlass does work on Xbox One. It's all I use to text chat....

If you have a naff phone that's not ESO's fault. I'm using a Microsoft Lumia and it works sweet. It can do all you suggest, great to copy and paste intel. And mega for updating Guild MOTD etc with the color codes.

Get a cheap windows phone and yer sorted..(but I know folks using it on iphones,)
