Can I do VMA?

razor_radford26
I can run normal VMA with no problems but I am thinking of trying Vet.

I am currently CP 160 MagSorc with a combination of burning spellweave and maritial knowledge. Is my CP too low to do it? I am worried I won't DPS stage 5 fast enough and the damn giant will send me into the frozen water!

Try and pull 20k on a test dummy. If you even get 15k it's doable.

Ok thanks, will give it a go tonight and see what I can do, would my gear be ok or shall I look to make a set of Julianos instead?

I know of people who have done it with no cp enabled. It is going to be very tough for first time in vet though. Keep in mind that VMA came out when the CP cap was around 300, and people still find it very difficult today at twice that amount.

What I have learned in there is that much of it is going to come down to you. Your knowledge of when to kill specific targets, where they spawn, and the mastery of your class.

I do not feel that normal mode prepares you for vet at all, so expect a shock.

The giant stage will punish you if you damage the boss too fast as she smashes the ice platforms once her health hits a certain percentage. The first two around 75 and 54% I think. She can be a royal pain but it's definitely possible

I know damage and things will be significantly higher and I will die alot more, but are the boss mechanics the same? Are the rounds the same too? I think I will watch some youtube vids and things first to try and get prepared!

Spell weave and martial knowledge are god awful for a sorc. Just use some trusty willpower and julianos and you'll be fine.

The are more or less the same but there are some differences, and the ability to flat out ignore mechanics in normal isn't as great in vet. That's not to say you can't ignore some of the mechanics in vet, I've watched some do it, but it's much much less forgiving. Like not forgiving at all. Most mistakes will result in a death until you get really good at it.

    A couple examples:
Spider daedra boss fight. On normal? Screw the pylons, I don't need to worry about them, just burn the boss and her mini spider daedra add when they pop. On vet? Getting the pylons lit is #1 priority for me.

Argonian behemoth: On normal, you can bash him when he screams to interrupt and keep melting his face. On vet? Nope nope nope nope. Gotta use the minder bubble and DO NOT interrupt.

You have just made the normal arena even easier for me! I had no idea you could interrupt the Behemoth, I am not ready for vet haha

I would probably just continue using the bubble and stay in that habit. Back when I started I thought that the bash was the answer and I was nuked so many times in vet because I didn't know I could go in the bubble until someone told me.

I'm going to say no due to the fact your CP is so low and it's your first time.

Your health is probably under 17k (bare min imo, unless you're experienced) and putting your health up will cost damage.
Your magicka and stamina pools will be smaller as well so you'll be down a bunch of damage from that and the mechanics are less forgiving and slightly different than normal mode.

Try the first boss and see how you get on but I can't see it being possible just yet.

    vMSA - Magplar - Xbox EU - 15/11/16
    578,000 - 36 Minutes 58 Seconds (Top 2 World?)

vMSA - Magplar - Xbox NA
    569,000 - 40 minutes (350CP, Non optimised runs)

Thanks for your feedback guys, going to get my cp up a bit and get some decent gear before I try it. Just out of curiosity what CP were you guys when you did your first run?

    Id advise something around 450+

Depends on you, but you will die a lot so no need to rush ^^

You'll be exceptionally hard pressed to beat it at cp160. The arena was designed when the cap was cp300 so take that into account. Most people recommend making your first try at cp400 or even 500. Granted mag sorcs are the easiest class to do it on so with a lot of skill and knowledge of the mechanics and the right gear maybe yes.

i guess you can do it but I guess it will be very hard. I started with vMA after I finished the normal version just once, it was a real pain and took me countless hours to clear vma.

Now many many runs later I started a new char and managed the normal version with lv 30, teaching gear and weapons without any problems and death.

All I wanna say is that knowing and learning the mechanics is the key to finish vma, however the correct character setup (gear, weapons, skills and cp settings) is a must have to, especially at CP160.. also consider that magicka does not reset to max between the rounds, this alone makes it way more difficult..

    It will be difficult anyway,

Edit: first vma clear was @ cp560

CP cap was never 300 it was 501 when 1st introduced

however vMA was originally designed & scaled towards people with 300CP,
many people would still recomend 300 CP for completing it

while people have done it with no CP they were people who had done it before so if you have difficulty do not beat yourself up over it - remember those people have run it a 1,000 times or more

    i agree with this
Spell weave and martial knowledge are god awful for a sorc. Just use some trusty willpower and julianos and you'll be fine.

although another good option for you would be necropotence instead of julianus - but this will involve A LOT of farming for gear or spending a lot of in game money/AP

ps. if you enjoy trials you could also try and get 4 pieces of a trial set that increases your damge against trial bosses by 5%, you can get blue jewelry from normal, which is more than fine anyone that tells you it has to be gold probably just has OCD ;) the difference in magic between a blue and gold piece isnt as much as you would think :)

    :(

have you triead a trading guild? many of the trials drop motives/furniture crafting supplies that sell for a reasonable price, so many trading guild often organise normal trial runs!

Groups hardly ever form in zone chat for trials. If you want to get into raiding your going to have network a little to find who the good raid grps are. What platform and server are you.

I am PS4 EU, have tried joining a few guilds but they all say they are active and running trials then you can never get anyone lol
