Concerning the Treasure Chests and Combat

If a player is in combat with creatures that are preventing him from opening a treasure chest it is very rude for another player to open the chest before the one finishing combat has the opportunity. If I see a player near a chest I will wait about 10 seconds to see if he opens it. If not, then I assume he has no interest and I will then open the chest.

This issue rarely came up in the past but I have noticed it occurring more frequently now.

They need to give us a really nasty gesture emote for us to do to those people. I have this happen to me often, some creep will come up and take my chest I was obviously fighting for. I chalk it up to there being no incentive for people to be decent. That's what happens when elements of the PvE environment are still PvP just by virtue of being competitive. All you can really do is make a note of that person's name and then if you see them losing a fight later, watch them die and then cheer.

When this happens to me (thankfully it's rare) I explain why they shouldn't do that.

Most of the time I get a response along the lines of "lol I don't care" or "learn to fight faster" but every so often I get someone who apparently had no idea you can't open a chest while being attacked and so assumed if you're fighting enemies and "ignoring" the chest it's because you don't want it and they're genuinely apologetic about it.

...and then there's the ones who start off accusing me of crying and use words like "snowflake" and end up getting themselves reported. At least once it lead to a temporary ban because I got a lovely message a few days later about how I'd "tricked" him into spewing abuse at me so I could report him....which got another report and presumably another ban.

Has only happened to me once in an delve, I and some other guy was moving forward, he stopped for looting or something so I was ahead, saw an chest but was attacked while picking and he took the chest while I was fighting.
This was in the boss room so I obviously burned the boss down fast before porting out so he can enjoy waiting :)
Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.

This happens a lot, also had it when I am in the middle of opening a master lock chest and make a mistake, they then steal the chest from me as there is a 5 second cool down...

There needs to be a way of maybe marking the chest, like for example, I see the chest, I then have to fight something to get to it, I go up to the chest and mark it mine (While in a fight for example) as I saw it first. Make the cool down something like 1 minute before another player can use the chest, I can then fight with ease knowing I will have a small reward after killing the mob near the chest and that it will not be stolen.

It's always been an issue, sure it sucks but it happens, shrug it off and keep on going there are plenty of chests out there.

Personally I don't do it, but I don't throw my toy out the pram of smack anyone if it happens to me. I mean hell at least we don't have mod tagging in this game.

I do this way to often. If I´m chestfarming in certain zones you better be on your guard because that chest will be taken by me in notime :D

Problem is, no matter what you say those chests aren't yours until you've looted them, it doesn't matter if you have to kill everything in the game to get to it, just because you saw it first doesn't make it yours, you have no more rights to it than anyone else.

However, from a moral perspective, me personally, I won't go for a chest if someone is nearby fighting, and likewise up until recently I was the same with resource nodes, however recently I've been gungho grabbing every resource node I see, other players or not, because I've had so many people beat me to the node i'm aiming for I've had enough.

They should institute an auto-accept to a duel challenge in a certain radius around treasure chests. This makes it so if someone steals a chest(and the other person is quick enough) they can duel to attempt to take their revenge. Heh, would make for a lot more scuffles over treasure chests, which might be interesting. It would make chest farming more interesting.

if theres a chest with mobs in aggro range, it shouldnt be able to picked til the mobs are dead.

Simply instancing chests and resource nodes to each player like they do the lootable containers would resolve this issue.
