Isn't it the community managers job to make sure all media platforms convey the same information? I don't know what else that job would be. If it's not that, they should eliminate those positions and spend the money on bug fixes and game design.

Actually, no.. Their job is to try to keep the forums in line, communicate what is here and important to those who can make decisions, keep players updated with changes in the game, manage the plebes, i mean, the gods who moderate the forums. etc.
Pretty sure some unnamed IT clone person is in charge of updating stuff like server downages.
