So right, this is an idea I had while I was out fishing - don't get me wrong, I love the combat and exploration, story and all that good stuff - but fishing was a nice change of pace because it gave me a way to make my way through the ESO world in an entirely different way. So I started thinking about it more, and aside from crafting there's only really fishing as a side job. Of course, jobs need to somehow improve gameplay/serve a purpose, so I cooked up some ideas:
Gardening - I know provisioning ingredients are already super common, but I still think it would be cool if we could build gardens in our home, plant something in our inventory then wait X amount of time for it to grow, based on rarity - even things like Frost Miriam. I think it would be an interesting way to get more provisioning ingredients without having to rely on spamming crates and barrels all day. They could also add a new item only for gardening, kinda like how fishing has the Perfect Roe, I'm not sure what the item would be or what it's for - maybe some sort of booster to foods/provisioning? Like a yellow ingredient that can added to any single recipe and increase it's potency by 20%, one time use. It would also be a great way to introduce more housing pieces for farming and would add a new use to provisioning ingredients, and make more players aware of provisioning as a profession. Maybe alchemy mats could be included but take up more gardening space, and a counter yellow ingredient that also boosts one potion's batch by x%.
Loan Shark - Wouldn't it be cool if they expanded Outlaw Refuges so you could lend out some of that ill-gained money to less reputable NPCs for a chance at profit? You lend them money - then the next day you can collect or depending on how much you charge them interest, there is an increasingly higher chance they try to run with all you've given them - leading to a sort of hunt quest where you gotta work for that money back. Since it would take atleast a day for them to generate money, it wouldn't be spammable - and the time it takes could even vary based on how much you've lent. Have it only one NPC at a time, and only with say a maximum of 25,000 loan and maximum of 15% interest. That's 3750 a day, about the same as crafting writs - but with more variance in how long it can take, especially if they run and you have to hunt them down.
Gem Mining - I kinda miss the Ruby, Emerald, Sapphire, Diamonds and Garnets of the previous games - I'm pretty sure this game has them as trait gems - but it would be cool if they were added in a "Raw" form as a super low drop to mining nodes, found in varying qualities - then you could add Jewelry Crafting like many of us have always wanted, and we could refine gems to different cuts and they would act as the new base materials for Jewelry Crafting.
Hunting AKA Trophies 2.0 - This one is pretty straightforward, just incentivize the grind for the blue trophies you can get from monsters by allowing us to place them in our homes. They're already there in the game - just only sellable for gold and for progress towards achievements - I think they could improve this by allowing us to use them as furniture - and maybe add a couple new ones to the list for DLC areas and such - or even an entirely new purple quality for specifically this purpose. Once you collect the blue ones right now you usually just sell them - unless you like to burn inventory space, it's kind of lame to call them 'trophies.'
This is what I've got for now - I know for current content there is alot of fix and polish needed - I'm just saying, I think these things would be nice in the future.
Anybody else have an ESO "dream job?" or jobs they'd like to see?
