How do crown crate seasons work?

Are there like 2 seasons every year, one in summer and one in winter - so the new season will start around holidays/end of year or is it complete random or how does it work exactly?

✭✭✭✭Seems they switch them out every 3 months. Storm started in November, ended in March. Wild Hunt started in March, ended in June.
