RIP Chester

Went through college when hybrid theory came out and if you did not know, they were all big gamers and I know played World of Warcraft at the least. I am sure ESO was on their radar as well.

Anyhow L.P. was part of my earlier life, getting me through some times as it did for others. Such a sad day for me and I know many of you.

So on this day I dedicate all my Vivec kills to Chester Bennington of Linkin Park, and from one gamer to another, I loved you man I will miss you dearly.

For all the other L.P. fans out there, my condolences.

I have been to north of ten L.P. shows since Hyrbid and I can promise you after seeing over 100 other bands in my time, L.P. was def on the top of the list, they put on a kickass show..

Of course this is not ESO related so the thread will probably be closed.

It is normal though to wish to express when you feel grief that someone you admire has gone too soon.

Khajiit admits herself she did not find what others did in his music but she respects how much it meant to many others.

It's a very strange and sometimes difficult thing to live your life when everyone knows who you are and all that you do. An additional pressure on top of ones that were already there.

It is often the case that the most creative are also the most tormented. Two sides of the same coin sometimes.

The man is gone. The music and the memories of many remain.

Do you know there is no one of his family here?

The human pet of this one lost a friend in a very public way some years ago. She says it was a most curious experience to hear people talking about it on the bus with no idea. Curious and sometimes even hurtful

If in doubt never say something you would not say to a family member or friends when discussing a loss. You do not know who may be listening.

Such a shame.

Linkin Park have been a huge part of my lifes soundtrack so far, Hybrid Theory to start with... though I always had a real soft spot for minutes to midnight.

I have a sister in law married to a professional hockey player and my younger brother is engaged to and has a kid with the "nice butt girl" from the Bacardi "peek-hole"commercial (think it was from a previous super bowl but not sure). There was an internet following of her ass for a while. I don't normally mention this stuff bc it doesn't matter, they're all people just like you and I. And validating to someone like you is trivial and aside from the point.

Linkin Park was a huge part of growing up for me too, since I heard the news i've been listening to them on repeat. I saw a comment on another page regarding Chester, "Sings like an angel, screams like a demon", and i thought that was the perfect way to describe him.

I don't really know how to feel about this right now. I wasn't a big fan, I thought they were ok but that was it, but so many of my friends were hit hard by this, either because they're LP fans or because they knew him, his band mates or other people who worked with him over the years.

I also know how hard it is to lose someone, even if that someone is "just" a musician whose music you liked, and were inspired by.

It's never easy but I think it helps a lot to have other people to share the grief with, even if it's an 'unrelated' community. Just knowing you're not alone, that other people are in exactly the same place emotionally, can help.

Which is why I'm hoping this won't be locked and won't turn nasty. Sure it may not be directly related but it's these other shared interests and experiences which bring us together, stuff like that makes the difference between an MMO with other people around and a single-player game with random NPCs doing their own thing while you play.

Maybe im just a cold heartless ***, but like did you know this person or did you just listen to their music. Chances are you just listened to their music and do not know them on a personal level whatsoever.

Its sad to you because he is "famous" but people you dont know die everyday and no one bats an eye or in this case make a pointless thread about it on a gaming forum.

It has just never made sense to me when an actor or artist dies and people act like its a tragedy in their own lives. Sure its sad and a tragedy to their freinds and familys but to someone who just watched their movies or listened to their music you will act sad for the first couple of days but after that it leaves your mind.

I would send my condolences but honestly i feel like you are just using this as an excuse for attention.

Idk maybe im just cold.
