Omg. That means no Necromancer class since we do not have a Zome appropriately named.

    There are two problems.

Warden is of Anglo-French origin, while Vvardenfell has used a Germanic pronunciation from its beginning.
Secondly, there is no established printing press in Tamriel so it's moot whether W existed in either print case.

So, in even suggesting that Warden derived from Vvardenfell, ZOS made an illogical language jump. Vvardenfell has been written as such across Tamriel in Germanic, while books like Founding Of The Spirit Wardens do not use a double v and aren't overtly Germanic in their word use. So Warden could not have derived from Vvardenfell or that language region.

It's further complicated by ZOS indirectly suggesting that there is some sort of printing press in Tamriel based on the way publication works and is presented in the game. However, that same hypothetical press, likely located in a region using Anglo-French pronunciation, would have updated Vvardenfell to Wardenfell in print and in doing so changed the pronunciation of the island.

Did ZOS put this much thought into it before shoehorning the warden into the chapter? Probably not.

Um, I don't think any of the people in the world that ESO encompasses speak German, French, or any other earth language. So the whole VV vs W thing is a non argument.

Personally I like the OP's thought.

I caught it right away but didn't think anything about it since I thought dataminers have claimed that Warden has been apart of the game since creation.

...though even if I didn't notice, I wouldn't mention anything. I played Everquest when I was a kid and they had a town called "Qeynos". It was the home of the Human race and one of my favorite towns to grind and craft. After playing the game for nearly three years, a guild member pointed out Qeynos is actually "SonyEQ" spelled backwards. So yeah.... I am not exactly the most observant person.
