ZOS punishing the Innovators, rewarding the Imitators

Shieldbreaker: This Item Set’s proc now only occurs once for each cast of a Lightning or Restoration Staff heavy attack.

Like 75% of PS4 Cyrodil population is running some minor variation of a sheild stacking sorc, and instead of saying "we have 10 classes, why is everyone playing the same one?".... ZOS decides to eliminate the 1 in 1000 player who decided to try to buck the trend and build an anti-meta.

I am in 3 different 500 person guilds, and as far as I know I'm the only person in any of them who does this. It's not like it's OP, sure it goes under sheilds for about 2000 damage a tic, but it's 1 small heal away or a dodge roll to safety. Plenty of Sorcs just stand there spamming their same 2 skills over and over, and you have no problem with that? Not to mentions a sheild breaker bow light attack is far more effective.

Finally, when you make a dedicated DPS class like this, putting a stam set on a magic weapon, your giving up a bit to achieve some focused goal. I do poor damage against any heavy armors, but I can get to some light armor unskilled Sorcs if I can fight to the back of the group..... so I guess that is a bad thing?
Once again, ZOS killing innovation, funneling us all into the same few Meta builds, and paying way too much attention to the whiners. (I can only assume one Sorc got killed one day and came in here crying, since it certainly doesn't happen very often)

Not to mention this is the 3rd time I've been hosed on Gold gear..

1.) I liked Dreugh King Slayer before the change of the 5th trait, so that was like 3 or 4 gold pieces.
2.) I have about 8 gold inferno staffs, before the 30% heavy attack damage mitigation
3.) Sheild Breaker on a staff is now utterly worthless, a defending staff now double worthless (if that would be possible)

At the least , in the name of customer service and not constantly screwing your long time players.... we should be able to break this gear down and get more than 1 of our gold materials back when you make a drastic change to an armor set.

Admittedly I haven't been doing much Cyro lately but last I checked, on PC NA the meta was all kind of stam proc sets with shield stacking sorcs becoming more a minority.

Also, abusing shield breaker lightning staff ticks was not "going against the meta", it was abusing a broken mechanic/exploit. L2p without exploiting.

Wait until you go real deep on theory crafting, craft or farm up obscure sets to create unique gear/ability/etc synergies and find out how many things are bugged or don't work like the description. This is the reason I run vanilla meta now.

Also, lol at theory crafting. Youre mixing skills from extremely streamlined classes and have two 5 skill hotbars that dont even let you use the same weapon on both. Dont pretend there is thinking in ESO. Zeni restricts builds in an extreme way, regardless of fooling ourselves in to pretending otherwise.

I've got that setup on right now to try it out. And it's completely broken. I've dueled all the people in my guild with this and win without any effort. Magic Sorc can't even fight against my build with this. At range on my Stam Sorc I can hold one button and they can't do anything about it. Add an oblivion glyph and it's a problem. I'll lose 150k gold for buying the staff but I knew it was broken and was going to get fixed. It's a good thing

Btw it is fun as hell to watch all the magic sorcs panic from it lol. But making them panic from skill is what this game needs. Not abusing and unintentional mechanic.

On a side note it does suck to put a lot of effort into a niche build and have ZoS fix it. Like fiords Orc speed sorcs or blazing shield builds. But there is always more sets and changes every patches for new builds. I love to make crazy builds myself even though they get nerfed just as I finished them.

For a year and a half nobody cared that I had Sheild Breaker on a Resto Staff...
- because all the players complaining were on their stamsorcs and stamblades as that was the current class to play, and now it's mag Sorcs. I am the same, they are different.

The problem is this.
There are two kinds of players in ESO

1) You see them everyday in Zone Chat. "what is the best build for PvP?" , "I need help with my Mag DK etc", farm, farm, farm. They watch a youtube video with some good player running some OP build, and they assume if they go get all the right gear, copy everything he does, do the same rotation, say things like "You HAVE to play a Dark Elf, you HAVE to wear Burning Spellweave or whatever, everything else is trash"... blah, blah,.. And then if they die, because they just know they are the perfect META well the game must be broken.

2) Then you have the kind of players who try to come up with fun ways to beat #1. We gold worthless sets of armor, get crushed in duels, farm garbage that no one else wants, and 95% of the time we lose. But every now and then we find something cool and can win some fight, get a bunch of hate mail, and watch the entitiled players claim we somehow are cheap, trash, or cheating because we don't want to play the META. I know if I get into a fight with a heavy armor DK or Templar I will likely lose, but I should beat a sheild stacking Sorc. Is that so bad?

Furthurmore, I play a utility tank. You know stuns, immobilizes, some weak heals, shared sheilds,.... it was just nice once in a while when the map was crawling with 50 identical sheild stacking sorcs, to be able to put sheild breaker on one side and maybe even the odds a little. That is what makes the game fun.

To me this is a real bummer

Seriously people defending a fact that it was possible to deal 9k unaviodable dmg under shields with 1 heavy attack ?
Unique build or not if it's based on using a bug then it should be fixed no matter how unique it was.

@Crom_CCCXVI You must be insane to call exploiters (which You also are) an innovators. In that case every exploit abuser in the game is innovator. Shame on You mate.

Sugarcoat and make excuses all you want.

Your an exploit abuses.

How is each tick of a channeled heavy count as a light?

Do other heavy attacks off other weapon types proc it multiple times?

Other players just got better and learned how to kill mag sorc, you just decided to not bother with that and use an exploit to kill them.

Now your crying that it got patched? Really.

Someone said it's an "EXPLOIT"
yeah, an exploit where when facing a good Pet Sorc you can go from winning 0% of the time to maybe 20-25% of the time?

smh, waiting for the day Sorcs don't have a game change go in their favor.

For the record, exploits aren't something that was common knowledge in the game since launch.... that suddenly became a problem because all the META sheep are crying because their copied Youtube build can't win 100% of their 1 v 1's.

For the record shieldbreaker wasnt even existing at lauch. The set was introduced with Imperial City DLC and fact it tooked long time to fix the bug doesnt mean it wasnt exploit. People was creating posts and threads about this exploit shortly after it was discovered. If something is not intended and developers dont approve that then it's bug and abusing it is exploiting no matter how long it'll take to fix the issue. There was other things for developers to take care on 1st that had larger impact on game but finally they also tooked care of that cheese.
