Is the achievement for killing players final blow only (like kill achievements), or just tagging them (as per the dailies in Cyrodiil)?
You must land the killing blow for it to count toward the achievement, similarly to Imperial City and Battleground achievements.
Isn't this a little strict for a one week event? It only seems to further encourage burst damage builds and wearing as many proc sets as possible. Tanks, healers and DPS that aren't focused on a burst-based build just seem to be out of luck since only the player that deals the fatal tick of damage
(even if literally 1 damage) will get credit, instead of everyone who contributes enough damage.
It is a "holiday event", not sure why 5000 kill contributions couldn't have been a freebie achievement for participating in enough conflicts over the event
Update: Upon participating in the event myself I did achieve 50 kills within the day, but it was very much by changing my playstyle to spamming my execute ability on any lower-health target I got in my sights. I'm actually having more fun now I can use non-execute abilities and just be "support DPS" and heal. But since even I managed to get 50 kills in a day (even if playing that distasteful way), I've re-evaluated my opinion to the achievement having been 5000 kill contributions instead. Playing all day, my contributions were well into the hundreds if not thousand-range already so it would be perfectly doable within a week and wouldn't require changing your playstyle or leave tanks/heals out of luck.
As far as the recommendations to use Siege weapons on zergs, I had no success with that at all personally. Got maybe 2-3 killing blows
