I was wondering, what is the best monster set for small group PvP? I was thinking Infernal Guardian or Valkyn? I am relatively high damage with good sustain.
Also, do you guys use entropy or crit surge for your major sorcery??
Depends on how you play for the monster set. If you like to bust up zergs then grothdar is nice. Infernal Guardian is great if you're stacking shields. Skoria is nice if you have a lot of Dots you're casting. Pirate skeleton is good for being a bit tankier. You'll lose a bit of DPS but you'll out live your opponents quite easily. I use Infernal and Grothdar most often personally
I use degeneration (entropy morph) in PvP cause of the extra damage. If you're trying to gank or be sneaky than surge is better. I run Inner Light but just for the max mag really
Next patch Pirate Skeleton will be changed. It won't apply to shields anymore. As for Skoria most DoTs you can apply as sorcerer are ground based so you won't have a good uptime on those. Therefore Skoria won't proc often. You can sometimes get procs from burning status done by force pulse and lightning medium/heavy weave which is considered a DoT. And if you are touching the enemies boundless storm, but as sorcerer you will mostly play ranged. Infernal guardian procs much more reliably.

Engine Guardian is still a very powerful and viable option. I would at least try it out and see how you like it.
IMO
Infernal Guardian is too easily dodged,
Grothgar requires me to get in close, which I don't like doing if I can avoid it,
Skoria isn't very effective since I don't use any DoTs (Surge>Entropy, Curse is not a DoT, but a delayed instant damage),
Pirate Skeleton is actually still very nice.
