devs, why still using low outdated tech?

i see many issue, but i pick 2 biggest most offending outdated tech codes.

1st, auction, there is no fast search for auction vendors, i see huge list and pages of pages that waste time for players, why dont we just type Red Mountian to save time to see specific list we want to see.

2nd, the mounts, not to shame or pick on, EQ2 has it better, it is annoying when we come to part of water, we get dismounted and EQ2 doesnt have to do that, just swam across regardless, and in here, we forced to dismount and swim, no matter how short a river or a stream, i know bosmers really hate the most, then again repeat click to ride again, it is awful to came across a multiple rivers within next to other rivers or swamps where we cant see "deep ponds", to click over and over to get back on mounts.

these are very low tech and outdated and this game was recently new released by 3 yrs, and others been around for 10-15 yrs and had so many upgrades.

devs, are you listening? are they soon to be getting upgrade? it is shame to see newer game released with low tech.

any other players find something else, please post that may need seriously upgrades

The fast search for Auction vendors is not because of outdated code or anything. They simply decided not to add it in when they first released the game. They decided the few search filters were good enough. Call it lazy coding.

Secondly, as for mounts not being able to swim...well, it seems no creatures in this game can swim in deeper water at all.

Run away from NPC mobs for a second and watch them not be able to follow you into deep water. Whether this is a technical limitation or just another "we thought about doing this, but, eh, its too much work and we need to minimise stuff like this to reduce traffic between client and server" kinda thing, I do not know. I suspect my stated reason is the actual reason why.

There is a decent number of examples of where devs cut what could have been amazing details out of gameplay for coding shortcuts and to meet deadlines, and just never got round to actually adding them in.

I think there was some poor coding decisions made as to just how much detail they would go to in game, where they decided it would be too much work/take too long and miss deadlines.

Awesome Guild Store addon fixes that. If you're a console player, I'm sorry.

With that addon I can search for a medium armor helm, blue quality or better, between CP120-160, with divines trait, dark-elf style.

If I also have Master Merchant, I can further limit it to not show overpriced items.

It's nice that PC has an addon to do this but it really should be part of the base game considering at least 2/3 of the people that play it are on console. If they're worried about putting in a bunch of work on a QoL improvement that they can't make money from then they should make a NPC shopping assistant you can summon like the banker or merchant that acts as a universal search engine. Then they could sell it in the crown store and once you have it and you want to buy something you bring up a dialogue box with your shopping assistant, type in what you're looking for and it could tell you the price and location of every guild store selling that item. This way console players are saved the time and trouble of teleporting all over Tamriel trying to find the best price on an item without blowing up the current system in place and ZOS gets to rake in a bunch of money from people buying a truly helpful assistant who's services aren't available anywhere else in game.
As a bonus this would also help break up the strangle hold large trading guilds currently have on the market and would relieve pressure on people to pay 15K a week to have access to a trade guild located in a capital city. If you're part of a small guild with a trader in the middle of Shadowfen very few people ever see your goods right now, but if the shopping assisstant told people that's the best place to buy gold tempers suddenly that merchant stall would be getting as much traffic as any stall in a capital city.

I do agree the UI needs an overhaul, but I have no issues porting looking for stuff. Since Awesome Guild Store (AGS) saves your searches, you can just go from one store to the other fairly quickly. Most of the better guild stores are near wayshrines, so it doesn't cost anything to port to 4-5 places looking for an item. In fact, it only took me about 15 mins to search for 3 pieces of cp 160 red mountain pieces for my warden (all blue or better and divines trait).

How does the OP's issues relate to the tech used for the game? The tech is really irrelevant and is purely due to how the devs decided to code the interaction in both cases. It's certainly not outdated. Just a choice.

Edit: maybe OP didn't know how to word it or something.

I'm sure all the console players are really pleased for you!

It would be a sobering experience for all the robust defenders of the present trading system if all PC addons were compulsorily disabled by ZOS for a month so both the players and ZOS could understand the true limitations of the system at least so far as those who are on console or who are on PC but don't want to use addons are concerned.

By including all addons in that disablement rather than just the trading ones it would actually be a useful experiment as it would lead to a decent forum debate over which addon functions were most missed and should therefore be incorporated in a revamp of the default UI on both PC and console. Perhaps it could at least initially be applied to the PTS inbetween major update tests?

You know... I can deal with the stupid non existent search function, or the unable to mount in water.. What I really... REALLY want them to fix... Is the 50 god damn load screens just to load into the game. Do we really need to click on the icon to start the game, wait in a load screen, press a (or w/e you use) to start the game, load screen, press a to play, load screen, select character, load screen..

Can.... we just click A on the icon and go the character select? I clearly pressed A to play the damn game you know haha...

i am on PC and i am deaf, that the way i use english, i cant write perfect english, it is bane to all deaf communities.
i dare to say what they used are outdated UI setting when most MMO already upgraded roughly 10 yrs ago. i am surprised to see old and low tech with this new MMO game that is 3 yrs old.

i dont know too much about addons, not sure which is legal or the ones could get banned.

The non swimming pets has nothing to do with technology, its just a game decision. I have no issue with making you dismount to swim. Can horses swim? Yes. Is it a good idea to ride a horse through a lake? Heck no! not to mention that there are some mounts that are made of fire or electrical energy, so either they would die or you would.

As for a guild store search function, yes its needed. However this is again not a limit of technology. They can do it, they just haven't gotten around to it because there have been more important issues to address.

Yeah, I always though it was incredibly stupid to waste time loading a menu to choose between NA/EU every time you login. I doubt many people regularly switch between the two, it should default to the character screen of the last server you played on with an option you pull up in the character select screen to switch if you want to.

Alot of simple things are wrong with eso, still waiting on a fix for run speed. Still waiting in a fix for a female character whose using a male voice when casting spells. Characters can't jump over things fluidly or above knee high. Still get stuck in heavy attack animations, still getting stuck in dumb falling animations.

Yeah, like crown crates. Seriously, its a search bar. The logic is not difficult, and would take a single person 30 minutes to implement for testing purposes... and that's being generous.

Let's break this down. They already implement filters for searches; a custom search string would just be another filter. They already have the UI functionality for input; the mail and text chat interface use it. Now that I think about it, they could more than likely copy/paste 90% of this functionality. If this feature is anymore complicated than this then I would absolutely hate to see their spaghetti code for both the game and the engine it uses.

You have awesome guild stores mod on PC it makes life much easier, let you search for anything including text filters, downside is that its only client side so it only blank out the not fitting one, adding the awesome guilstore addon server side for all would be easy. Do a lot of stuff like this at work, as in custom report from databases.

Yes it would be an more complex search, you could have an pop up for select set item, if that is stored by ID.
But it would reduce number of searches a lot, instead of doing 10 searches you do one

Yeah console. It first loads to the start screen, then you press start and it loads a server select screen (console doesn't have to enter a password), then you press start to select the server and it loads the character select screen. Sounds like they were being lazy with the port and instead of getting rid of the password screen and working the server select option into the character screen they kept the extra unnecessary loading screen and just got rid of the password portion.

He could be right, I did accidently create an EU character early on. That sucks if I got an extra loading screen every time I logged on for two years because I didn't bother to delete it.
