Hey Zos it's time to make a new subcategory for this issue.

Edit: there needs to be better subcategories in the report in game.

Just because you don't like the way something is doesn't necessarily make it wrong...

    Earn it.

IRL'ing for a while for assorted reasons, in forum, and in game.
I am neither warm, nor fuzzy...
Probably has checkbox on Customer Service profile that say High Aggro, 99% immunity to BS

Gold sellers still exist? I haven't heard of them since they stopped being able to sell gold in game without being immediately banned.

Umm... thats not gold selling dude, those actions are 100% legal. Gold selling is when you sell in game currency for RL money. Betting on duels and guild raffles with in game currency aren't gold selling lol.

I think the person meant that if you are trying to sell gold, make a fake situation where you are 'betting' with the person buying it, to try and make it look legit. I'm not sure the methods Zenimax use to find gold sellers though.

Again: there is no RL money involved in those transactions. If gold sellers enter raffles and dueling contests and win then sell the gold (which is a terrible business model, because you wont always win), that is no different than them farming gold elsewhere. You cant associate guild raffles and dueling competitions with gold sellers.

Ever look in a guild trader's kiosk and see a purple lvl 10 sword listed for 500k? That's a Gold Buyer. The Gold Seller will buy that, and so deliver the gold. The $$$ happens prior. You can also meet in-game and simply trade millions of gold. (which also happens to be how many guilds deliver their large raffle prizes)

He's not explaining it very well, so you're not getting it.

They're not betting on existing contests. They're making up fake contests with their customer to cover up large transfers of gold in the logs. If ZOS check the logs it looks like he's handed the guy the money he's won, rather than just being given a huge chunk of gold for no apparent reason. It's a way to make it less noticeable in the logs.

The developers should forget about the sellers and perma-ban the buyers, that's the most effective way of dealing with the issue. It's always in the sellers' interest to get back into the game so it's hard to get rid of them permanently. Besides, it's the buyers who are cheating and they should just be kicked and their account closed down. Once you remove the demand the sellers will soon be gone of their own accord.

The situation is similar to the ppl selling cheats. Sue the ppl behind the sites to take the sites down and ban the buyers I guess.

@klasdahlbergb16_ESO you might not want to actually say their messages as it will be moderated because you are advertising for them on the forums.

If you see a gold seller report them, note the ticket number and send it to a dev to get bumped up and investigated.

Targeting the buyers is a better choice conceptually, but in practice its far easier to target the sellers. Their accounts are always less "worn" and far easier to detect, and I'd imagine there are far, far fewer of them than buyers. I realize it's a short term solution, but if there are 10 sellers and 1000 buyers, then it makes sense from a manpower standpoint to go after those 10 sellers. These bans need to be done by a person, remember.

I disagree with the demand argument. Ultimately, even if you get rid of hundreds of the buyers, there will always be more buyers and more sellers, so with that in mind, might as well go after the sellers to cut off the supply.

You need to report them in game then note the ticket number and post that. Don't post their message because you're helping them advertise their site.

The problem is, a lot of those sites are hosted in countries where the law is much more.. forgiving when it comes to this kind of thing. For example, the latest goldselling story involved Russian botters/exploiters.

I have played with people who bought accounts. Same time they bought some gold to go with the account. Got curious so I looked it up. I remember what it was roughly at last time I checked. Saw this topic and figured I'd re check and prices have gone up quite a bit.

As more and more online games pad their pockets with items/services sold in game for real money I doubt they want to permanently ban people who have shown they are willing to spend a lot of real money for online items.

I could see it being more of an issue if the game itself sold gold, like GW2.

Actually, even if they spend rl money on gold, it doesnt mean they would buy crown crates and other stuff. Why would they buy respec scrolls, repairs, soul gems, motifs, etc with crowns if they have so much gold?
Also, goldsellers sites often sell accounts, and thats not profitable for ZOS. They'd rather sell another copy of game, dlcs and cash shop items.

What does that got to so with it. Zos will only permaban the ingame accounts, there isn't much more to do. They wont persue legal action for gold sllers lol

My only guess is that there is less supply cause of the risk it involves.
