There is never a reason to order someone about in a demanding and controlling way as if you were their dictator. That's not acceptable to me under any circumstance.

I mean seriously what do they know? ZoS said I can play how I want to play why should I listen to NPCs or other players for that matter?
Also Nerf nMA or if you can't, then please buff Khajit Fire Sorcs cos I can't get past the first round with my elemental blockade flurry build. They are stealing my money.

Silly kitty. Everyone knows you're supposed to spam deadly cloak. It has 'deadly' right there in the name. That's how you kill stuff.

Was in discord once (one of the DPS didn't realize I was still there, nor that I was the tank he was talking about) when it was mentioned that I "de-aggro'd" the boss during the fight.
Not even sure how that's possible, since overtaunt hasn't been a thing for better than a year now.
So "lost aggro?" You're clearly a n00b
You're not a real "bad tank" until you can "de-aggro" a boss. (I think it involved buying him ice cream or something?)
I'm not a fan of people thinking they're helping by being dumb at me about something I'm doing, or that they think I'm doing.
For example, I was doing a normal dungeon with some random pledge group just to knock the daily out and I noticed that the healer sucked. So, being on my magsorc, I swapped my volatile out for my matriarch so I could do some offhealing.
It was a normal dungeon. I've soloed it before. They couldn't just hung out at the entrance and watched *** or something for a bit and I'd have cleared it by myself if I had to. I really didn't figure some CP 88 dude was going to immediately stop the parade and flip out about 'wtf a DPS has a healer pet out for' and proceed to attempt to lecture me about what I should have on my bar and blahblahblah, dork-recites-some-Alcast-trial-build, insisting it was what every magsorc needed to do any DPS at all ever.
Even after I told him why I pulled the matriarch out, he insisted that I 'let the healer learn to swim on his own'.
Because I want to take an hour to do this dungeon I could solo in twenty minutes tops? What the bleep?
So I told him he could sit there and pout while I solo'd the place if he felt that way.
He whined and tried to initiative a vote kick, which didn't succeed, and then he convinced himself I couldn't possibly do the dungeon without him since he was, in fact, going to sit there and pout, since HE was the TANK and the world was not allowed to go on without him.
So I swapped frags out for hardened ward and the world, as with the dungeon, went on without him . Heavy attacks with liquid, wall, wrath, ward and matriarch on the front bar? I can solo all the things with that and never even have to drop buffs or worry about even looking at my back bar, especially in normal I's. Is it best DPS? Hell naw. But I'm not going to die and the other things will die. I've done vMA, solo'd dungeons, solo'd a few vet dungeons and solo'd worldbosses all over Tamriel with that.
We vote kicked him about halfway through, since he resumed his fit throwing when he realized that he was completely unnecessary after all, and his opinion wasn't worth a pocket full of poo.
And what was his lame-arse snivel afterwards? "This is what I get for trying to help". Paraphrasing. I didn't screenshot the nonsense, though had I known I'd be recounting the anecdote, I would have.
That's not helping. I do not appreciate nor want 'help' of that variety.
Well meaning help or even criticism offered in a conversational manner might be well received. I don't bite peoples' heads off when they ask about my gear and sometimes offer their own ideas of how I might improve the loadout.
Their remarks are usually ignored, because I quite like my setup, but I don't get crabby about things like that.
When help is actually meant to help, I'll probably be sociable in receiving it, even if it winds up ignored.
When 'help' is just an excuse to be a dictator, or false justification for being a hostile ass?
That ain't help at all.
I don't find that the question is too vague. Nor is the OP lacking any context that I would need to see before justifying an answer.
There is never a reason to order someone about in a demanding and controlling way as if you were their dictator. That's not acceptable to me under any circumstance.
There are polite or mature ways to give suggestions if it is needed. But for someone to act like a complete jerk about it shouldn't be tolerated by anyone. This is a video game.
Without context it is too vauge. For all we know OP is a tank that wasn't taunting the boss and just heavy attacking with a two-hander. Maybe the group asked, "hey, can you taunt the boss?" to which OP responds "I bought this game I can play how I want! Stop being a dictator! it is unlikely but I've seen it happen.
For all we know OP is this guy,

Well, there was that guild member that kept joking about doing... "socially inappropriate," things to a chicken.
I understand your intent, and agree to some extent, but there are always thresholds where, sometimes, you just need to tell someone to cut it out. It's very rare that I've seen that kind of behavior extend to builds. But, when you have someone, who is clearly a DPS, and is queuing as a tank and healer to cut down on their queue times... yeah, then telling them that they shouldn't be lying about their role in the group finder, in firm terms, is somewhat appropriate.
Sometimes it's ok, like earlier I was in a group normal dungeon me 200cp a guy max the other 40+ and a level 15 tank who must've been wearing light gear.
The "tank" was dropping like a fly which wouldn't happen if wearing heavy no matter the level since he scales to 160cp but the max cp dude was going nuts in the text chat, I refused to kick the guy it was an easy dungeon and we've all been carried at one point in life but yeah it did have to be said but at the the same time be a little less angry about it.

I've lost count how many groups I've been in with tanks who use lighting and flame staffs - who do not taunt - and who stand in the back spamming heavy and light attacks. It's one of the reasons I re-designed my healer to be able to decently tank in fact - it has gotten so bad.
DPS shouldn't queue as tanks for faster times. It's selfish and I fully support removing those players from a group. But I don't see this as what the OP was referring to. And there is no need to start barking orders at them regardless. Because if they refuse to play their role when asked nicely - resorting to ordering them to do so I seriously doubt is going to work either.
Just remove them from the group.

I changed to a tank straight after it LOL I'm a mag tank and a healer from one day to the next but always go in fully geared for my role.
Certainly agree with the vet thing, I can't even mag tank at 200cp tried it and my health is not quite there so dont bother, can just get away with being a Templar healer so couldn't imagine anyone being able to perform one of them roles in a vet dungeon not geared correctly.Oreyn_Bearclaw wrote: »There is a difference between constructive criticism and do it my way or GTFO. Good to hear, I'm a Templar and when tanking use ice staff with ritual of retribution and sun shield for protection but wasn't sure if it would hold up in vets when I get more cp.Oreyn_Bearclaw wrote: »There is a difference between constructive criticism and do it my way or GTFO. There are many veteran dungeons you can adequately tank with an ice staff.
I mostly play as tank so I'm actually glad when people give me input about positioning, buffs, debuffs they want and so on. I frequently ask for such info anyway if I feel something's not right. Since this is my first MMO I had to learn everything from scratch. I constantly learn new things after almost 2 years in this game. So I'm actually glad when people give me tips about gameplay.
